If you trained for five years…

Hey, in a country of what was ~60m then, that's still pretty effing good:

Top 40. 33rd to be exact.

If you trained for five years…

In five years I'll be in my mid-50s so I guess the options are pretty limited. My other half is (or was before kids) actually a competitive archer at a ground roots level (competed for her club against other clubs) and we have some ridiculously expensive kit gathering dust in a cupboard that...

Thought he was Zambian? But anyway, yeah, no shortage of talent and with the recent-ish change in eligibility rules I'm sure there's a good few internationals with a Zimba parent or grandparent who've been stood down from their previous rep countries for the requisite three years who might fancy...

Be nice to see the Zimbas back in the WC. Produced some fair talent over the years, albeit ending up repping other countries for the most part. There's Pocock, the Beast and Bobby Skinstad off the top of my head.

Worst Sport/Event in the 2024 Olympics - submissions

I can't believe the obvious "coxless pairs" joke has only just occurred to me...

Well it certainly gives a new meaning to "Who'd you fancy in the Derby?"

Something that requires fitness, stamina, agility and determination: shagging. Categories make themselves: mixed doubles, men's doubles, women's doubles, men solo and women solo.

1600? :-O Christ, how long was the bloody rope?!

Worst Sport/Event in the 2024 Olympics - submissions

Yup. I must admit I always slightly ascribed my complete indifference to Olympic footy to the fact that GB didn't enter a team. However we did in 2012 and genuinely wasn't arsed then either.

Only when they make a mistake (or, tbh, give the correct shout) that penalises one's team of choice though.

Grandad's repeating himself again. What's the name of that care home?

Yeah, oceans of water between "officiating" and "scoring".

Worst Sport/Event in the 2024 Olympics - submissions

Definitely agree with the principle, but, being a bit of a fan of the old pugilism, my work-around is that a fighter can win without recourse to judges. All the rhythmic gymnastics, synchronised swimming, diving and breakdancing of the world can do one though.

Shares in Aussie maniless have gone up by 2000%: Hockey star Matt Dawson amputates finger to play at Olympics - BBC News One can't help but be slightly impressed at the old-school, hard-as-nails, diggers-in-the-trenches of it all, surely?

Quite so. I mean, it probably comes as a shock to some of the sport's more, er, casual fans that men actually play beach volleyball anyway. Women's beach volleyball is essentially pronograhpy for cowards.

Argentines in "poor sports" non-shocker. :-O Seriously, don't know the context, but **** them anyway.
