    *OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

Apropos of Cook and the ABs averaging more in Asia than their respective overall figures I was having a gander at players who do better away than at home. None of them even make the top ten (although AB sr. is bubbling under at 11): Mohinder really, really didn't like Indian decks, eh? :-O

Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

I'm following the 2nd test through cricinfo as I'm nominally at work, and it struck me that two names in England's "most viewed players" list stuck out amidst the usual suspects: What have Messrs Clark and Eskinazi done to attract Joe Cricketnerd's attention?

    *OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

It's a point I generally have sympathy for and is true more often than not, but I think it'd be wrongheaded to try to argue that it wasn't Root's and Brook's runs that won the first test.

    *OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

So, Pakistan have named one frontline seamer in their XI and the test is being played on the same wicket as the first game (that can't have happened too many time before, can it?). Greentop, then?

    Boxing thread

Well that post aged like a teenage mother with a meth addiction Dubois dominated so fair play to him. I've been wrong before and will be again. Not always quite so spectacularly though. I will say though that he's probably the most effective heavyweight headbutter since Holyfield.

    Official Rugby Thread

Well, I think "a game of two halves" is the apposite cliche. Awful lot closer than it should've been. Wobblies have still never held the Bledisloe in my now two decade tenure on CW.

How does one become a pace bowler? How risen up

Probably add Craig White to the list too. Was bowling offies when he came (back) to England, switched to seam up after he got the tap on the shoulder that his slow stuff wasn't going to cut the mustard and in 18 months was bowling seam-up in a test v NZ. Started at military medium until a game...

England players and selection discussion thread

Yeah, ended up with more test wickets at a better average than Emburey, Tufnell and Giles. Not bad for a chap who's essentially a career batsman.

    Most overrated match performances

Think this is going to have to be one of those "agree to disagree" things as my take on "softness" in a player is so far from yours. To my thinking "soft" is a batsman who doesn't fancy it when the seamers are turning up the knots or a quick shirking because they have a twinge.
