On the last ball of the first over: Does it matter one plays a shot, to collect leg byes, if the ball travels to the boundary? I always thought you’re not allowed to take them, but once the ball goes over the boundary, you get 4 of them anyway.

Baggy Green ball tampering: Bancroft, Smith and the Aussie "Leadership Group"

Just waiting for someone to post a The Downfall / Der Untergang clip where Hitler rands about not using yellow sand paper.

The only way it makes some sense is when the fast bowling unit asked him to advantage them.

That has nothing to do with not bowling out Curran, rather than having VK bowl his 20th over tripe. It was 18-19-20: Russel - Curran - VK. He should have bowled Curran first, to at least have a choice for the 20th.

I guess stuff on Lehman goes here too? Why I think Lehman is just a boorish prick: Why I think Lehman is a enormous arsehole, and most certainly not one of the good guys: When DL said so, he knew this was simply not true. For those who don't remember: Broad knicked it to the keeper, who...

Agreed. What I find more disturbing: These bans are handed out, before a proper analysis was made. To me it seems logical to take an immediate profissional decission (as was done by sending the three home), and then take all the time needed to come to a fair conclusion. I am not too sure who...

Baggy Green ball tampering: Bancroft, Smith and the Aussie "Leadership Group"

My two cents (not that many people care about my two cents....) : I've been a bits & pieces lonely cricket watcher between 1993 and 1998 (or whenever it exactly was when the BBC was stripped of TV rights). Hardly any friends to discuss cricket with. And no online communities yet. Since the...

Easy catch or not. It is fitting that it was Dean Elgar to catch Smith out.

What I was wondering: The autumn has started. Season is basically over, not? I know I am a bit further north (Holland) than you are south, but having cricket matches by the start of October seems very odd.

This is all very nicely set up. Idealy Aus would strand somewhere between 350&400.

We've seen stranger things in cricket / nothing as volatile as a cricket match / cricket is a funny game. All true. But the way I see it, only rain can save England from this point.

I'm a bit surprised by that. What's the idea behind it?

My only guess is that Stokes cannot bowl? Just really poor by Root, otherwise.

Amidst the shock and awe the scorecard presents us, I cannot help but notice England have come in with 5 quicks & 1 spinner. I know Overton has scored more runs than the rest of England combined. Yet, I would have gone for Vince, I guess.

There's quite gap between being "not very intimidating" & running through, don't you think?
