    ODI Batting Poll - Discussions

Gilly's strike rate definitely is impressive - second only to ABdV of those voted in thus far. I agree averages aren't the be all and end all, but there needs to be consideration of the eras. In a lower (but slower) scoring era, Greenidge was most effective.

    ODI Batting Poll - Discussions

Both Jayasuriya and Gilly were fine ODI openers but stats suggest Gilly deserves to be rated higher. Jayasuriya Ave: 32.36 SR 91.20 Gilly Ave: 35.89 SR 96.95 I expect both to be voted in at some stage.

    ODI Batting Poll - Discussions

As @Qldr pointed out, Zaheer Abbas and Viv Richards were the outstanding ODI batsmen of their era - a time when there were fewer ODIs per calendar year.

The high interest is maintained with well over 20 voters again. The 3 positions voted for saw clear cut 'winners'. However, six candidates earned at least one top vote. R.Ponting 38 Zaheer Abbas 37 R.Sharma 27 B.Lara 16 D.Jones 14 Babar Azam 3 A.Gilchrist 3 Voting is now open for positions...

    ODI Batting Poll - Discussions

I was surprised to find that Michael Bevan's strike rate was so much lower than the others voted in to this stage. He was excellent when it came to guiding his team home t in the latter stages of games and, no doubt, it was this skill that highlights his ODI career.

    2025 ODI Batsmen Poll: Discussion

I was surprised to see how low Michael Bevan's strike rate was compared to others already elected. More than half the voters (including me) nominated him. His ability to guide his team home in later stages of an innings was outstanding but I thought he might have had a higher SR.

    All Time ODI Batsmen Poll

Over twenty voters again and a wider range of nominated players, though ABdV was a clear stand out at the head of this round. Keep those votes coming in. It will be interesting to see how our list develops. A.B.de Villiers 58 M.Bevan 22 M.S.Dhoni 16 R.Ponting 13 Zaheer Abbas 9 R.Sharma 7 B.Lara...
