Gilchrist Pads Up For Channel Nine

9 should clear out Taylor, Healy, Lawry, Chappelle and O'Donold. I'd get rid of Benuad but people would have heart attacks.

Good post. I’m not talking about giving young players extended runs, but a WI tour and future ones against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, are ones to give potential talent a chance. I've previously wanted Dilshan in Test squads, but now I'm a bit indifferent to him. He certainly isn't getting any...

Yeah good game in the end. I can't get rosey over SL's win though - they've dissapointed me far too much over the last 3 months to get any love.

    Indian starlets risk being swallowed

I don't really see much wrong with an agent and/or senior players helping a young bloke pop the cherry.

I've been thinking about this since SL lost the ODI series against England in Sri Lanka late last year. The Australian summer has just confirmed it. The rapid decline of SL since the high of last years World Cup and tours of England and New Zealand has been stunning. The squad for West Indies...

Good rally by SL at the end, but we had no right to get that close. I can't help but think, if Maharoof/Jayasuriya/Dilshan had gone for a reasonable amount of runs in their overs, it would have been an even tighter result. We were always about 20 runs short, but seriously, the 5th bowling...

Sangakkara's innings today was the innings of the series thus far for mine. He delivered a meaningfully measured and well constructed century under immense pressure. Hopefully our bowlers do something special and get SL home.

 good bowling / poor catching / generally solid ground fielding The Aussie's seemed to lose the plot there, but I'm sure they'll come out with a vengeance after dinner. We were in a similar position in Sydney, and if we were to loose here, it would have to be the mother of all ****s ups.

Good line up. Dilshan/Sanga either one opening would be better than Tharanga/Perera, I suppose it comes down to which of the two actually wants to open. I agree about Welegedara, he swings it and bowls in the 140 - ie. everything that Kulasekara cannot do.

    Shane Warne

Whoever the op talked to was wrong, he is no where near a national joke. He is very much liked as a whole, which may seem weird to people who live outside Australia. But it would probably suffice to say Warne sort of embodies the true 'Aussie spirit' - a larrikin who done good off the sweat off...

I rate him as an opener more for his the intent he shows at the crease than anything else. Right now SL have no openers - save of course Jayasuriya. Tharanga is a joke. Dilshan will at least always search for runs and if he spends any amount of time at the crease, he usually tends to cash in...

yeah i am, i'll be amongst about a hundred or so other members of the 'appu army'. hopefully we won't be embarrassed by an disgustingly woeful batting display (wishful thinking perhaps)

SL need to make some tough selection choices tomorrow. Tharanga's fate should be straightforward. I'd give Maharoof a run - if history has taught us anything it is that Sri Lankan bowlers never all fire on the same day, one will invariably lose the plot. I'd give Vaas tomorrow to prove that he...
