**Official** South Africa in England 2012

 - I'll be pleasantly surprised if he reaches double figures. Sorry, but England aren't going to win this match.

Given the context of this match, might Bairstow following Taylor not increase the risk of a collapse?

Strauss Cook Trott Bell Taylor Prior Bairstow Would that not make most sense under the circumstances (assuming 4 bowlers)?

It's Tough Being Me - The Kevin Pietersen Story

That's quite a surprise.I'm not qualified to comment, but Pietersen looks a pretty acute case these days & I don't see how it can be anything but trouble in such a team sport. Does the staff not include someone with at least an inkling of these matters?

I've posed this question on the other thread, but I'm going to repeat it here - has Pietersen ever been treated for narcissistic personality disorder & if not, why not?

It's Tough Being Me - The Kevin Pietersen Story

Has Pietersen ever been treated for narcissistic personality disorder? And if not, why not?

It's Tough Being Me - The Kevin Pietersen Story

I certainly wouldn't offer him a (12 month) central contract - I wouldn't be looking beyond the upcoming business in India frankly, so some sort of pro rata deal?

**Official** South Africa in England 2012

Those are the key words in my book - I'd really only be looking to retain him on a short term basis.

No - make Pietersen carry the drinks. That'll test his "commitment" - I'd still be preparing the way for his replacement.

. There's quite a difference between resting & pissing off to the IPL. Besides, it was a management decision to omit that pair - they were in control, acting for the good of the England test team.

Really? Looks like platitudinous rubbish to me, ie. par for the course from Botham.

Well Woakes is scoring runs again.....

**Official** South Africa in England 2012

There are quite a few members of that team who contributed as much as Pietersen if not more to England's rise to the top of the rankings. And if he wasn't such an arse, they might have drawn the 1st test of this series.

What's the worst way to be dismissed?

Vaughan certainly did that to someone, but I can't remember who either - can anyone help?

It's hard to make a comparison due to the advent of the IPL, but Warne always struck me as having absolute commitment to the test team. Then again I'm not Australian, so will defer to the opinion of others.

**Official** South Africa in England 2012

Why not? Because it might just expose him as a mercenary ****?
  18. A

**Official** South Africa in England 2012

No - he'd like to play some tests, ie. those that don't interfere with his IPL commitments.

    *Official* English Domestic Cricket 2012

A thoroughly depressing prospect then: 1) No real changes to a team which has basically failed this year. 2) A debutant in arguably their biggest test in quite some time - whatever happened to all that careful planning?

He doesn't bowl though, which is an issue with doubts over Swann's elbow.
