Dominating series perfomace against tough bowling attacks

Did everyone forget Yousuf against England in 06? It supplemented possibly the greatest batting year of all time and while all others around him failed and flailed. I got to meet him after his double at Lord's and he was one of the most humble sportsmen I have ever met. He followed that up with...

Ranking the candidates for the second best batsman after the Don. 25 contenders

50 tests is a lot of matches which is why I've included Kohli. Does it count how they are ranked? Because I have not ranked them in order

Ranking the candidates for the second best batsman after the Don. 25 contenders

My point is not to deny how good they may have been, my point is that it should not be enough to include them at the expense of players with vast test careers and performances like Younis, Yousuf, Walcott or even Kohli.

Ranking the candidates for the second best batsman after the Don. 25 contenders

I'll do my top 25 too: Jack Hobbs Len Hutton Kevin Pietersen Ricky Ponting Allan Donald Greg Chappel Javed Miandad Younis Khan Mohammad Yousuf Zaheer Abbas Sachin Tendulkar Rahul Dravid Sunil Gavaskar Virat Kohli Jacques Kallis Graeme Smith AB de Villiers Hashim Amla Viv Richards Brian Lara...

Ranking the candidates for the second best batsman after the Don. 25 contenders

Of course some of those names could crack a top 20 considering you're ranking players no one saw play, some who have nothing to write home about in international cricket off of "eye witness accounts". I'm not denying the likes of Grace were iconic, they were. I am not denying those that saw...

***Official*** 3rd Test at the WACA

England need to bat first considering how flat these tracks are in Australia and they need to score big. On top of that I thnk Cook may have to be dropped. I hate to say this but the idea of him getting another go just because of the history of his career is not enough now.

    ***Official*** 2nd Test at Adelaide

Has the English tail ever been that good outside of England? I'm trying to remember how they did in SA but I remember the batsmen and bowlers doing their jobs. In India they looked lost at sea and the first time they came up against ta op class attack in the CT (I know, I know, it was an ODI)...

    ***Official*** 2nd Test at Adelaide

Maybe, maybe not, we shall see. Either way, Rabada is a far better bowler and its not even close. I'm not saying he go out there and do an Afridi, I'm saying he go out there and play with intent rather than scrabbling around in the dirty. Every great win and great winning performance I have...

De Villiers vs. Kohli: Mother of all ODI comparisons

Deano was one of those pioneering types, his running and hitting was ahead of its time. For fans alive at the time he gets rated but historically he is a bit over shadowed, and rightfully so, by a number of great batsmen at the time.

yep, Ali might as well go for it - a 45 off 35 is better than a slow, plodding 20 Yep, if it is a win it would be one of the great ones on Aus soil, kinda reminds me of the Pak/Aus test last year

    ***Official*** 2nd Test at Adelaide

I see it the opposite way. this is Australia's to lose with a lead of 178 and only 6 wickets left...6 very flimsy wicket. Root will have to be a one man show and Ali will need to play one of those innings he became famous for over the last 18 months or so.

Maybe Cummins is flattered by early performances across a very small sample size?

Jimy having his best spell In aus, possibly ever and Smith is one lucky lad but the lead is already far too much

Rahul Dravid's overseas performance : A gaping hole in the Wall

I think the point of those stats is that the odd good performance does not equate to him being very good in those conditions and nowhere close to his form at home.

De Villiers vs. Kohli: Mother of all ODI comparisons

For me it is ABD and I think quite comfortably too. The reason is, if I was picking an ODI team and I could only pick one of these two, I'd want to pick the one with a better 360 game and more explosiveness. That is the south african.

    ***Official*** 2nd Test at Adelaide

I agree. England let Australia off the hook yet again, with more defensive bowling and nonsense, 79mph bouncers.

    ***Official*** 2nd Test at Adelaide

It really is weird. Everyone can see, commentators, fans and the players out on the field - you get wickets if you pitch the ball up a bit and let it swing. Yet, apart from bits and pieces of spells from Jimmy, Broad and Woakes, we have been far too short. You only go short when you have genuine...

Rahul Dravid's overseas performance : A gaping hole in the Wall

Who in their right mind thinks Dravid>Tendulkar? Dravid was a terrific batsman he was not Tendulkar's quality, nor was he close to Ponting or Lara. But he was the last man standing time and time again against England, while everyone around him failed in that last tour. I remember watching him...

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

I might swap out Dhoni, it was a tough pick for me. True but can't go wrong with a middle order of Amla, Kohli, Khana and Smith. Not sure if Clarke fits in there.
