His (admittedly short) batting record is sensational. Is he a proper keep or a modern converted batsman?

Why I will stop calling players talented: A discussion of terminology

To be fair, Australia are currently doing a fairly good job of ensuring this happens

Malinga should play Test than chasing dollers says Flower

Here's Flowers comments without the prism of junk journalism... ICC news: Andy Flower worried over future of Test cricket | Cricket News | England | ESPN Cricinfo He probably shouldn't mention Malinga unless he knows he harbours a desire (and has the physical ability) to play test cricket. But...

Pace Bowlers Who Could Perform Better than Ricky Ponting With The Bat

When to bow out is the great question isn't it? Ponting has gone from great player in a great team to being the sole survivor in a declining team. Throw in the loss of the captaincy and the Ashes defeats and it all starts to look positively Shakesperean. I know he's let himself down on...

I understand why you're asking the question. Flower is a proud and stubborn bugger and if he's had enough of poor one day performances it may trigger a reaction. Very hard to know what he's thinking though. Great opportunity to invest in youth here, one that doesn't come around very often.

That was Rob Key's argument against Cork - that it was the execution rather than the intent that was the problem.

Oh yes - but not only after Ashes defeats. Endless permutations of selection interspaced with reviews of the fundamental structure of cricket in this country. In hindsight not that many of our players should have been on the international stage or had the raw talent to do so. Too many players...

Australia know what they need to do to rebuild as they did it 25 years ago. The questions is - have they got the raw talent to make it work?

Ron Key not getting any slimmer is he? Think he's about to come to blows with Dominic Cork.

Not nearly as remarkable in itself as that fact surviving a Johnson over

    Pitch Bitch.

This was an interesting one. Not just for being bowler friendly but for an odd mottled, multicoloured surface. Remember Robin Smith getting battered and his innings was really quite heroic. Still, Windies batted okay on it and I don't think the wicket explained the last innings massacre. 3rd...

Sign me up as another supporter of variety in cricket wickets, including a few spicy ones. Cricket shouldn't pander to the type of knob-end fanboys and girls whose sole interest is jumping and down in front of the cameras every time a batsman bludgeons another boundary, Still, Having caught up...

My over-riding memory of that day was Thorpe's face as he walked off after becoming Ambrose's 6th victim. Complete shell-shock. I guess Ambrose in that mood offers some mitigation but it was all doubly painful because England had been more than competitive before that horror session.

I haven't seen any of the action yet, highlights in 10 minutes or so I think. What's the story with the SA 2nd innings? Pitch flattening out, bowlers getting carried away or the pitch never that bad to start with? Looks like a lot of 4 balls for a low scoring game...

Wasn't that Test unusual for being the only one to have a part of all 4 innings on a single day? Agree it lacks the drama of Clarke's contribution. Hoping for a better finale than that of the Windies-India game.
