Crazy review, he was a mile down the pitch amongst other things.

Shocker of a review, had nothing go for it.

Serious hubris from Stokes to review that; maybe as a group they're mentally fried at the end of this disappointing series.

Fair effort by Stokes to have a worse DRS appeal than Bairstow or Root. What is going on?

Steve Waugh - the overrated test captain

I'm pretty sure in the Taylor era only once (McGrath verballing Mullally in Melbourne in 98/99) was an Australian Test player sanctioned by the match ref. They were hardly angels in this period but for the most part they didn't lose control as happened on occasion in the Waugh era.

Steve Waugh - the overrated test captain

Waugh's captaincy certainly played a role in Australia reaching new levels of success, but I think the pivotal factor in making that Oz team an all-time great one was Gilchrist. Before Gilchrist Oz under Waugh had drawn in the West Indies and lost in Sri Lanka. Gilchrist coming in at 7 and...

Thinking back to that match, just underlines how pivotal that Green wicket on the final day was. He looked totally solid until his somewhat unlucky dismissal and then the rest of the batting looked totally vulnerable. With this batting lineup, Green looks like the most important batsman now; he...

I kniw he's had a fine career overall, but Southee has been a constant disappointment against Oz - career bowling average of 43 against them. Seems like he peaked in his against them @ the Gabba in 08/09 when he got Ponting, Katich & Hayden in his opening spell. Only the Perth 19/20 has he...

What a gift that was; until then NZ looked the most comfortable batting they did all match.

Really frenetic batting from Australia since lunch; still think they made an error in batting again, albeit result probably won't be impacted. I think Carey may almost be done, awful dismissal and innings.

Strange that Australia didn't enforce the follow-on, with Day 5 forecast looking especially dire

Classic NZ mindset on the comms asking whether this is the best Oz bowling quartet ever. This quartet has been part of two losing series against India at home and have been part of only one winning series overseas in 6-7 years.

On the Williamson run out, would he have even made it without the collision? Reckless run to take under normal circumstances.

The commentary has been wild today.

Appropriate that last night I was watching the highlights of the Oz v NZ 93/94 Hobart Test which began this era of mental dominance (Australia won by an innings & 222 and lost 6 wickets for the match).

NZ got bowled out for 76 after the Gillespie/McGrath partnership in 04/05; not sure they'll make that today.

Also should add that after that NZ were dismissed for a lower total than what Gillespie/McGrath made.

Seriously, Green is looking more likely to get out than Hazlewood atm; looks fidgety and losing his concentration a bit.

Hazlewood cuts Southee for four with ease; wouldn't surprised if Southee retired at lunch after that.

Thing is every side has done it in recent decades; can't remember a captain that doesn't do it to some extent. First time I recall it happening was when Mark Taylor did it in Test in South Africa in 96/97 and comms being baffled by his tactics; and it's been the same process from captains and...
