    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

Have to be a bit more flexible coming into games like this - yes Young has been a premier runscorer since the WC, but which of the two was more likely to have answers to this Indian attack? Should have been a swap.

Yeah funny that the captain who's an SLA himself not backing himself to take wickets that way. India are showing him respect so far. Ravindra just found the edge.

Duffy a better bowler but doubt he would have made up for Henry. Bigger issue is the squad is a specialist spinner short. NZ seem to be moving away from Sodhi of late, but selection of someone like him would probably make more sense in Dubai.

Great stuff from Rohit. Been turning up with the explosive starts regularly in these crunch games, today could go bigger.

Ravindra bowling in the powerplay - not stuff you'd have on the bingo card!

    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

Think Santner needs to turn to spin the powerplay, much like India did when Ravindra was teeing off. Rohit is running away with this.

The NZ attack has a Henry-size gap by the looks of it, though KJ is trying. And not helped by putting down chances like that.

Seems like he's deliberately going pace-off after that first over. Speeds seemed okay in the last couple of games.

Both newball bowlers haven't really found the radar yet, O'Rourke especially struggling with line.

Probably Macewell's best innings leaving aside the Hyderabad century. Dragged NZ to respectability and gives them something to defend. (EDIT: Didn't watch the century vs Ireland, I suppose that avoided an embarrassing defeat so must rank high)

Yeah NZ are at least 20-25 short of a par score I think. Decent recovery after the Phillips dismissal, but puts too much onus on their newball effort.

Guess we'll reserve judgment on that innings for after the game. Far from a fluent knock, but NZ would be nowhere without it. Good effort from Bracewell to get a partnership going. Had doubts about whether he'd survive the spin onslaught, hopefully he can take NZ to 250.

Class from Varun, very respectable couple of games following the Michelle.

    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

With Henry out and NZ's spinners not quite at this level of excellence, India shouldn't be worried. Can understand Phillips and Bracewell being crease bound, that's a limitation. More surprising from Mitchell, says something about the pressure India's created.

    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

He gets too gloomy when NZ aren't doing well. Great guy to have on comms at the closing stages of an exciting game, but otherwise can be a pain.

    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

Yeah he's proved to be a real weapon. Unlike the earlier game this wicket's been less helpful, and NZ are still struggling.

    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

You feel that severely limits what NZ is going to get, not having Phillips in the death overs. India to go in for the kill here, can NZ provide the resistance?
  18. Moss

    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

A-game doesn't apply to the catching, obviously. In spite of that, India in a great position. Mitchell has looked completely different to the player who made those two hundreds vs India in the 2023 WC. Situation today means he can't play with as much freedom but the spinners do seem to have him...

Missed the entire passage from the Rachin dismissal till now. Looks like India have brought their A-game since. Worrying that two of NZ’s better players of spin have gone. Looks like these two will have to take it deep at the expense of really accelerating. I don’t trust the rest of the batting...

Yup, Kuldeep over Sundar for sure. NZ will definitely miss Rachin’s hitting game against spin. KW and co have to hit reset now.
