    All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

If you have anything approaching a decent option, you're replacing Flower and getting a real keeper.

    Ricky Ponting vs Kumar Sangakkara

    Very much this

    All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

It is an all rounder position, but just like with the batting and bowling versions, where those skills must take prescedence, so does glove work in this scenario. If the job is to take the gloves, I'm never taking Flower over even Healy.

    Ricky Ponting vs Kumar Sangakkara

From what I've read, great or world class

How does Ravindra Jadeja compare with Kapil Dev and Ian Botham ( Tests)

Really not picking up your sarcasm and attempts at humor apparently.

    All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

It really isn't. I don't see how that is even an argument.

    Ricky Ponting vs Kumar Sangakkara

Didn't know it was that easy. Anyways... Keeping and keepers are so very hard to rank and rate. A absolute top tier, or elite ATG tier might include (and I will miss names) Taylor, Tallon, Oldfield and Evans. The ATG tier might include Healy, Knott, Cameron, David Murray, Duckworth...

    All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

More than adequate keeping also isn't good enough. That little tidbit is often ignored these days. And Gilchrist also requires trading between skills. There was a point where his keeping skills were a little underrated because of his batting, but some here have reached the point where it's...

    All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

Yeah, there needs to be a minimum standard for the actual glove work to even earn consideration.

How does Ravindra Jadeja compare with Kapil Dev and Ian Botham ( Tests)

There's definitely something wrong with you 🤣🤣 I do hope one day you wouldn't have to be so parochial in your world view

    Harry brook era

Even today he was quite lucky to make it out of single figures. There's a way to do it, settle in, get your eye in and then you can do whatever you desire. Think it was mentioned at some point during the series how many chances he receives per innings, not always going to be that lucky...

No. Vivian had an excellent technique and was much more judicial in his shot selection.

The style doesn't exactly carry long term viability.

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

So now that our AT XI is finished and official. How does it compare to the credible ones out there? Wisden Hobbs | Grace | Bradman | Tendulkar | Richards | Sobers | Knott | Wasim | Marshall | Warne | Barnes CRICINFO Hobbs | Hutton | Bradman | Tendulkar | Richards | Sobers | Gilchrist |...

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Not only fine, but against the wrong personality, would have ended quite differently. A bit asinine.
