Oh great Bell and Cook at the crease and England already need 6+ an over.

Could be that when they know there will be rain and they will be playing through e.g. Rugby or the 20/20 I referred to earlier they use some sort of lens that filters it out but normally the lenses used at cricket don't do this... I don't know rally

I'm pretty sure it can disguise how bad the rain is too. The 20/20 Glos v Worcestershire was raining throughout but big screen didn't show the bad light or the rain. Also I work part time at Memorial Ground where Bristol Rugby play and when the match is on sky you don't see how bad the rain is...

I always thought that TV makes the conditions look better than they are tbh.

Pretty much. England's batsmen don't have what it takes in this form of the game. They are just way to tentative. I'm sick of seeing them in this position, they need over 7 an over but continure to score at around 2 - 3. I'd rather see us bowled out than pathetically plod along at this rate in...

My Top 100 Test Bowlers of all-time

Not that interesting, he stills sits comfortably at No.1 when you do that. As for Murali his action was cleared so what's the problem?

Glos did well tonight was a great match apart from the fact it rained all through the 20 overs played. Gidders is a legend as is Hamish Marshall. Also Greenidge is maturing (rather late) as a bowler. Not sure if the speed gun was right but he clocked high 80's (88mph) a couple of times, I hadn't...

Wind assisted though apparently. Still he must be developing pace, Freddie didn't hit rf speed until later.

I read that he didn't actually start as a bowler per se just he used to be picked because he could bowl and bat. So he was always a batsmen who got sick of being picked of a bowler. I can't remember where I read that though... He does get a lot of turn though at times doesn't he, if he could...

I was just interpreting the first line of his cricinfo page "Known in the games as Monty" as though it was saying that's where the nickname comes from. Either way doesn't matter though.

Monty is a nickname that has been given to him by teammates and the press. Most cricket fans know his name is Mudshaden Singh Panesar. He doesn't have control what other people call him, it's not like he has refused to wear his Turban or renounced Sikhism.

Did I hear the radio commentators say Tremlett bowled a 95 mph delivery today?

Durham 6/3. I'd be more worried about Durham's batting and the prospect of the inspectors looking at the pitch. Plunkett cleaned up the tail nicely taking 4, how did Harmison bowl? Assuming you can watch the match that is.

    batting tips- help

Not wanting to hijack the thread but I have this bad habit of playing a one handed pull shot. I lean towards the short ball and try a front foot pull shot and take my bottom hand off at the last moment, it's ugly. In fact ugly cross bat shots are really creeping in to the way I play, though I...
