Instances of series favorites being whitewashed?

Being serious, how were the odds when Aussies toured SL in 2004?

***Official*** Pakistan and England in UAE

Bell dropped from the LO squad. Briggs and Buttler come in. Guess Buttler proved a point in that series v SL A.

That's a very big if you know. I was hoping that he'd get dropped after the SA tour. But what does one know about SL cricket...

*Official* Sri Lanka in South Africa 2011/12

Apart from one knock from Faf, no youngster managed to do anything for SA. So fair to say the so called experiments failed big time. Not being able to defend totals in excess of 300 consecutively is an utter failure too, especially considering the state of the opposition you're facing. We won...

Moral of the story: Never score 312 when batting first against Sri Lanka. 3rd Match: Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe at New Plymouth, Feb 23, 1992 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo 2nd ODI: West Indies v Sri Lanka at Bridgetown, Jun 8, 2003 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo And now this match

Whew, almost choked. Too much of South African air in the lungs maybe, now get out of there ASAP boys. Such a shame that Marsh is going. Too much political influence will never get you anywhere. Hopefully the new guy can get going quickly.

Seems you're hurt. Look here, I wasn't trying to annoy people here or something, was just pointing out a positive (if you can call that one) that we can take from this series. But two things I have to tell: 1) We never experience these sorts of bouncy pitches in the SC. There wasn't much...

Match Winners XI ( ODI )

I know it's hard work, but I think for MoM awards won for batting, you should consider what the player did at that exact position in the line up, instead of his overall record.

Last time SA toured SL for a bilateral tournament (2003/04) they were whitewashed 5-0. Now us Sri Lankans can be somewhat satisfied that SA couldn't give it back this time around. A question for SA fans: Don't you people think you're missing AB the out fielder? If he weren't the wk in the 4th...

Finally a win! Can't believe they kept Perera out till it's too late. Dumb selectors over-played him in the wrong format, and then took those performances as a basis to judge his LO skills. :@:@ Good to see Dilshan playing with freedom again. Sanga should pay more respect to SA fielders and...

So Sibanda missing out. Expect to see some good contest here, a repeat of that last Test between the two teams would be awesome!

Finally Senanayake getting a chance at the highest level, should definitely play in the 3rd ODI. Maybe two spinners along with Herath will work. No point in going in with a bunch of seamers just for the sake of it if you don't have quality. On Rajapakse, he is regarded as the next best thing in...

Has Samaraveera gotten rid of the FTB tag?

Wait, KP is considered a great?? he's an awesome batsman when he gets it right, no denying that, but a great? LOL Samaraweera, statistically the best Test batsman since 2007  Try and come up with a stat against that.

The next nation to be granted Test status

Wouldn't even think of inserting another country until ongoing problems of the current lot are sorted. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in particular, with India threatening to join them. Pakistan seem to be settling down, but you never know. Zimbabwe's status isn't justified yet either.

Has Samaraveera gotten rid of the FTB tag?

Jayawardene has always been a flat track bully, but with the recent series in UAE where he couldn't do anything, I think he's now reduced to a home track bully. SL had a series v AUS in between ENG and PAK series, where Samaraweera couldn't do much. In fact he wasn't in the XI for the third...
