English Domestic Season 2025

How the hell is Luis Reece a frontline bowler in first-class cricket, let alone a successful one? No speed gun in this match but he looks to be barely touching 60mph. What's his secret?

They seemed to discover it by accident, I don't think he would've actually been selected in this sort of role with any faith in it working if he didn't prove it was worth a shot when he was being selected as a specialist batsman.

Chilton said he was allowed to leave Old Trafford because his bowling would never prosper there, and had more chance of becoming an allrounder at Derbyshire.

I guess he's unusual in being a left arm bowler whose stock ball is the away-swinger to the right-hander, but I'm surprised he's quick enough to trouble county level batters.

Leicestershire only need 21 points to get promoted by my calculations.

This assuming Derbyshire get max points in their final 3 games, so even less.

Got to be nailed on now, would be huge for the first time since 2003 and one in the eye for the ECB that would love for Leics etc to go bust.

Be great if Derbyshire could join them.

Albeit I hope not at the expense of Durham, alas Worcs need 3 wins from 3 to stand a chance.

I feel real bad for Ben Compton. Since coming to Kent he's averaged 1.5-2x what Crawley has in FC cricket playing for the same team, on the same decks, in the same position. Yet Crawley's played 30+ tests while for underwhelming returns in that period and he can't even get a sniff.

The Gloucestershire exodus continues. 25 year old Ajit Singh Dale joins his third first class county at the end of the season on a three year deal. Doubt he will join on loan earlier but you never know. Lancashire are the beneficiaries who currently have endless pace options (12 at the last count) but who clearly aren't doing the business for one reason or another.
