Rahul is lowkey the weirdest player. Such a poor record overseas but he so consistently looks a class above when it comes to batting in tough conditions against fast bowlers.

Probably doesn't speak well to his mental game and prep tbh.
One of the stupidest players I've seen. He's played so many superb knocks in difficult conditions but has no clue how to cash in with any degree of consistency on more "normal" pitches at times. 7 of his 8 hundreds are away from home despite an average of 31 too.

Yeah it really is like he needs the extra challenge of spicy pitches to actually lock in mentally and bat to the best of his ability; like a very poor man's VVS.

Norwood's on Fire
It's like their names were chosen to exemplify bleakness.

I know there have been one-off tests with terrible attacks, but looking at the stock of available bowlers for this series as a whole there's just no real quality at all. Really depending on Woakes still having something in the tank at age 36 and the early signs aren't good.
A tad harsh. Atkinson has been quality, and Carse it’s early days but has delivered fairly well. Wood is injured, and well do wee count Archer. There’s not a lot of depth but I don’t think no quality at all is true.

Wood and Atkinson are probably missing the summer, no? Maybe get a test out of each.

I'm not low on any particular prospect, but it's hard to think of a summer in the past 20 years when they had less firepower. They've looked alright this morning tbf.

Wood's suggested he'll be fit for the 5th and don't think Atkinson's hamstring injury is too serious, he was only doubtful for the first Test so might be back mid series. And then Jofra's back bowling so attack could look quite different by the final Test.

India should be really happy with that session. They toughed out a decent period but are easily ahead now, I think.

The oddsmakers seem to favor India ridiculously which makes no sense to me. They have over under at 357. My over / under is 225
