Monaco really needs to change man.
Nelson Piquet complained in the 1980s that Monaco was like riding a bike around your living room.

Mansell lost the 1992 race because he got a puncture and had to pit behind Senna, and couldn't pass despite fresh tyres giving him something silly like a 5 second per lap pace advantage (on top of the 'I get to drive the FW14B advantage enjoyed by Mansell that year.)

This isn't new.

Monaco Saturday is the best Saturday on the calendar.
I agree, but that really shouldn’t be the case where Saturday > Sunday

Its not new but its getting worse and worse.

Do qualifying as normal on Saturday, then have the race as Go Karts.

Or, make Monaco a 24 hour race, 1 car per team. Really test the endurance.

Well anyway. The 500 was much more fun to watch - though not as good as last year - and Le Mans will be better than both.

Would be awesome - though still pretty impractical - to see a driver take on all 3 with the schedule changes next year. Knowing F1 they’ll schedule different races on both those weekends anyway.

Would love to see it, but I can't see any current F1 driver who would genuinely be interested even if there are no schedule clashes?

Le Mans is on the radar but the Indy 500 seems a different story. Most current drivers seem seriously oval nervous, which is pretty dire but just the way it is I suppose

Alonso maybe? Though maybe he’s passed over that phase in his career. Honestly after the bad luck he’s had this season and the eh car from Aston wouldn’t be shocked to see him leave F1.

Can't realistically see Alonso doing Indy again at this stage unfortunately, Le Mans on the other hand is absolutely within the realms of possibility for his future both in the short and medium term

Even if this F1 season has been rough, largely but not exclusively due to the bad luck you correctly say he has had, I still think Alonso has a bit left in the tank

Didn't Hulkenberg win Le Mans? He's at a stage where he can do whatever he wants. I don't imagine potentially being side by side with Marco Andretti and Sting Ray Robb at 380kph fills him with confidence for coming home alive though.

I love him but Scott Dixon's hip check on RHR last year that went unpenalized would probably stoke the oval skepticism.

Would’ve been a fun story if there was a wet quali/race in Monaco and Hulk won and that was his only podium in F1.

But yeah not many of the F1 guys seem inclined towards the 500. However both F1 and Indy drivers seem interested in Le Mans.

Alonso has won Le Mans twice and the World Endurance Championship, I've no idea why he would try that again.

I don't see him going anywhere in F1 now that Aston Martin have Newey on board.

****, yeah he did too, remembered him racing there but couldn't remember anything results wise. Although TBF that was the time when Toyota had no serious opposition, not exactly a banner era for the WEC as a series

Disagree on the second line honestly, at his age I would be stunned if he is in F1 in 3-4 years time. Even if his lack of success this year has been mainly down to sheer bad luck as opposed to anything else (with the exception of Albert Park)

Anyway, happy to see the right McLaren on pole

I’d be surprised too, unless Newey pulls an absolute banger of a car out, in which case he might try and stick around. Also yes, Piastri seems to have a mental edge on Norris right now.

Arguably Norris has more raw pace, but Piastri already seems much stronger mentally and his racecraft I think is slightly better. Fascinating battle between the two this year. And I’m sure Verstappen will always be lurking.

Also lol apparently Stroll’s pulled out due to recurring pain from his 2023 injury and surgery. Couldn’t have done that pre-qualifying so a reserve driver could have a go could he?

Yeah shame fir Drugovich but it might be serious enough that Stroll will miss a couple of races and he gets a go.
Normally you don’t wish such things on an athlete but yes hopefully. Use it as an excuse to retire already Lance c’mon.

Seriously whenever they do the driver interviews he sounds bored like he doesn’t enjoy racing at all. I’m curious whether its daddy pushing him or him being ashamed to turn around and say daddy I don’t want to be an F1 driver anymore..
