*Official Third Test at Headingley* 25-29 August

On Overton, he also gave this toe curling interview on the subject earlier this year: https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/wisden.com/series-stories/england-v-new-zealand/craig-overton-ive-realised-that-you-cant-go-around-doing-what-i-was-doing-then/amp

*Official* First Test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham - Aug 4-8 - 2021

Is this India side better than the one from 2018?

    *Official* Pakistan in England 2020

Yeah quite possibly. I don’t mind Bess, he’s very young for a spinner and there’s definitely something to work with there. But Leach is our best spinner and if he’s healthy he should play, IMO.

We can talk about captaincy and Anderson maybe being finished, but ultimately we don’t pick our best spinner, we don’t pick our best wicketkeeper, and it’s cost us the game here.

*Official* West Indies Tour of England 2020

Bess was on one of the county podcasts recently and credits most of his improvement to working with Jeetan Patel.

I think in the circumstances you’d have to enforce the follow on if possible. Stop bowling Joe

Yeah no issue with it today, but he always bats like that. Pope easily the best looking bat we’ve debuted since Root.

Curran is properly reckless with the bat isn’t he? Part timer definitely a good idea to him.

I know he took wickets but I thought he was poor at Centurion as well. This was always going to happen because the transformation policies mean he has to play every game he’s in need of a break imo.

    4 Day Tests

It's the grounds that lose out on the fifth days- the bars and concession stands will all be close to fully staffed but they won't recuperate that money from the small crowds. My biggest worry about 4 day tests is definitely the impact of weather.

Bairstow is everything wrong with this team personified.

England players and selection discussion thread

The constant need for an opener has meant that pretty much any run of form has resulted in selection. Some players who'd otherwise shown absolutely nothing have been picked off the back of one good season- Lyth, Robson, Hameed, Jennings (Who I think averaged under 30 before his mammoth 2016)-...

    2nd Test, Lord's, London

A fair point and Trott does come across that way. He’s extremely forgiving to Flower and Cook in particular.

    2nd Test, Lord's, London

Trott mentions it in his book, but he definitely makes it sound less prevalent than KP. Only really mentions the whole apologising in the dressing room thing as happening in the 2010 Bangladesh tour that Strauss missed.
