My previous post does differentiate between swing in the air (letting it roll out gently) and getting movement and bounce off the track (snapping the wrists). For more detailed info on grips and stuff, check out these links - Cricket Articles. Enjoy, kanna! :)

Fair point. But it was a fair distance outside leg. Perhaps the non-striker could have known that with some certainty. Always a difficult punt though, especially when the man in the best position makes the wrong decision. :)

As poor as the umpire's decision was, I can have some measure of understanding for Powell not reviewing it. The batsman sometimes isn't exactly sure where the ball has pitched and maybe the youngster didn't want to waste a review on himself. The non-striker should have brought it to his notice.

I think the track was a big factor in giving the new ball to Beer. Here's Pattinson coming on as I type.

Michael Beer opening the bowling for a nation that gave us Lindwall, Davidson, Miller, Lillee, Thomson, McGrath and Gillespie? I think I've seen everything now!

    Shaun Pollock

How did you come to that conclusion, friend? What may be boring for some people may really tickle someone else's fancy. Between you and I, there are very few things I enjoyed in cricket as much as the visual experience of seeing Shaun Pollock bowl. Coming in with the shining red cherry, landing...

Thanks, man! I quite enjoy your posts too. Been an admirer or Philander since his first test; the first ball tbh. In fact the second innings (47 all out) was when I switched to this avatar :-)

Why can't India produce great fast bowlers like Pakistan?

That explains the insufficient footwork while batting. Welagedara to testify!

Caught close-in pushing at the off-spinner. Who would have thought?

Impact outside off? This is one case where it looks plumb to the eye, but the HawkEye says otherwise. I know which one I'd trust!
