Tyranus had Yoda panting and struggling to lift a cane after 30 seconds of duelling while Maul couldn't even beat Kenobi in a 2v1, Tyranus consistently 1v2'd Kenobi and Anakin at the same time until Dark side amp, Maul is not built like that.

That's fair, still think you underrate Mace's sabre skills though. Hard to really get an accurate read on him when the only proper duel he had on screen was against Sidious throwing the fight

IIRC one of their EU interactions has Tyranus straight up saying that Mace never beat him once in their duels at the Jedi temple and Mace doesn't disagree, and he lost the first fight to Kar Vastor in his own novel.

The EU is notoriously highly variable in this regard. There are also multiple EU references outright stating that Mace is the greatest warrior/swordsman the Jedi have seen for generations. You can't just cherry pick a quote because there will be others that contradict it.

Kar Vastor is characterised in Stover's novels as being immensely powerful, and Shatterpoint (which is an excellent novel btw) has a very reserved depiction of Mace's own power and skill compared to other sources.
