International Vice-Captain
Australia A squad to go to India next month

Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Jack Edwards, Aaron Hardie, Campbell Kellaway, Sam Konstas, Nathan McSweeney, Lance Morris, Todd Murphy, Fergus O'Neill, Oliver Peake, Josh Philippe, Corey Rocchiccioli, Liam Scott

Jason Sangha and Jake Weatherald notable omissions. Looks like more of a youth development group than a real 'A' squad
Standard 'A' Squad these days. England always seem to send out 3 pro's (normally fast bowlers coming back from injuries) and 12 kids for their Lions teams.

But there's a few more experienced guys in that squad, would be I be right in thinking that as many as 9 had played for the National team in at least one format?

I count 8, but it's hard to remember every random white ball bilateral appearance so I may have forgotten someone. That's also just the squad for the four-day games. The one-day squad is even more of a development squad because it clashes with the start of the Shield -

Cooper Connolly, Harry Dixon, Jack Edwards, Sam Elliott, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Mackenzie Harvey, Todd Murphy, Tanveer Sangha, Liam Scott, Lachie Shaw, Tom Straker, Will Sutherland, Callum Vidler

I suppose what's most interesting about the two squads is seeing who they've decided needs to be back in Australia playing Shield.

Do they? The last lions match against India had haines, cox, rew, holden, gay, tongue, hill and woakes. That was in june.

Touring lions seems a bit weaker but the last away match in Australia in March had Davies coles Flintoff tongue Bashir cook Pennington. Rew was also in the squad.

Liam Scott has become a PONI very suddenly hasn't he. Interesting given he probably only just sneaks in our top 10 seam bowling all rounders (don't make me name them GAS)

Yeah, was thinking of the Tour, it was basically just kids and Davies in the batting. In fact, it was so weak in batting it had Tongue at 7 and Bashir at 8!!

If they had an injury to root or Brook in the ashes who would they call up. Would it be a youngster like haines cox or rew, or would they go experienced like airshow or laurence who they don't need to pick in the lions as they know what their about already?

I don't think Cox or Haines count as youngsters anymore, and I have no idea who Airshow is!!

But surely Bethell is next cab and after that, who knows, Rew is making a good case at the mo.
