Moral Victories

Ali TT

International Captain
SA vs Aus WTC.

Either way the match goes the loser could claim a moral victory.
Not winning the farcical WTC is a far nobler thing. In fact, deliberately slowing your over rate to secure penalties that prevent you from participating in the final is the only moral action any respectable captain should do. Each WTC point deducted is a moral point gained making England the clear moral victors in both this and the last WTCs.

What if they wouldn't have made the final regardless of penalties

The covid affected India-England test series which stopped at 2-1 with India leading and dominating. Later, a one-off test with different personnel gets attached to it and series ends 2-2.

It is 2-1 India and a test series win in England for me.
Yeah, all piss taking aside, this was a genuinely bad outcome.

Nah, it was India who decided to **** off, you can't just do that when you're winning and call it a series victory (although, it might be the best way for Australia to win an Ashes series in England).
Yeah and I was literally about to leave the house to head to OT when they decided to abandon ship FFS

Unfortunately I have to agree. It was all for the IPL too. Shameful.

I think England winning the rescheduled game was actually a genuine example of a moral and real victory. Or maybe a morally deserved defeat for India.

2012 Pakistan v England, in the UAE
3-0 Pakistan
Probably still 3-0 to Pakistan as Rehman got 19 @ 16, but Ajmals 24 @ 14 should be scrubbed from the history books. bloke may as well gone out to bowl with a javelin.

2023 Ashes
Actual Score: 2-2
Moral Score: 3-2 England (England win the 4th Test and win the 1st Test because they were overconfident but otherwise should've won that. They lose the last Test however because of the unjust ball change)

2005 Ashes
Actual Score: 2-1 England
Moral Score: 2-1 Australia (McGrath injury, murray mints)

2016 England tour of Bangladesh
Actual Score: 1-1
Moral Score: 2-0 Bangladesh (they only lost by 22 runs in the first Test despite chasing on a minefield)

2007/8 India tour of Australia
Actual Score: 2-1 Australia
Moral Score: 1-1 (Sydney '08, cheating Australians and blind umpires)

2016 Pakistan tour of Australia
Actual Score: 3-0 Australia
Moral Score: 2-1 Australia (Pakistan made 450 chasing 489 in the first test which is insane and they deserved the victory. Due to butterfly effect the series could really have gone 3-0 to Pakistan, we'll never know)

Plenty of rain affected ones but those are very obvious and don't need much discussion
hilarious post!

2014 Sri Lanka vs South Africa
Oscar winning performance in time wasting by SA to secure a draw in Colombo , Should have been 1-1 the series , First series win in SL for SA

Get your facts straight at least before shitting on my team 8-)

Something was not quite right about your claim as well, i seem to remember something about the situation. Yes Tahir was a bit naughty, but the overs had to be bowled anyways - last 15 territory. Barring a sudden storm from nowhere that would be the only way Tahirs antics would have helped. As per this video the weather was pretty decent.
