Not winning the farcical WTC is a far nobler thing. In fact, deliberately slowing your over rate to secure penalties that prevent you from participating in the final is the only moral action any respectable captain should do. Each WTC point deducted is a moral point gained making England the clear moral victors in both this and the last WTCs.

Barring a sudden storm from nowhere that would be the only way Tahirs antics would have helped. As per this video the weather was pretty decent.
