4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Darwin Award

State 12th Man
More records by Root... or co-records now.

Most centuries scored at home:

1.Root- 23

Kallis & Jayawardene also scored 23 at home.

For those wondering Tendulkar hit 22 tons at home.

Kirkut

International Regular
Why do you think he will lose enthusiasm?
His action is a double edged sword really, and being at your best everyday puts pressure on him to try too hard which could risk another big injury.

I hope I'm wrong but don't be surprised if Bumrah looks to cut his test career short and play more limited overs cricket instead. Pragmatically not a bad decision given he's aware of what he can achieve realistically.

What I meant by enthusiasm is that I hope he plays at least 70 tests and bowls with full tilt every game.

Bahseph

International Debutant
Root is a champion. I hope he corrects his Aus record before he calls it a day. He should be remembered as the great player he is.

Okay so I just watched some of the Indian innings and watching Shardul and the debutant bowl in tandem is ridiculous imo. You might as well have played Kuldeep!!

King Kane

International Vice-Captain
Root mowing down the great test run scorers, going past Kallis and Ponting in the one innings, he might need a few more innings to go past Tendulkar.

Won’t average 30 here this summer. Again. He’s like Anderson - you play enough tests you make enough runs/ take enough wickets. Low range second tier player at best in the scheme of things.
Fair enough!

You bookmarked my post a week or so where I thought he'll at least score 1 ton in Australia this time..... and maybe 2.

I'll return in kind and bookmark this one when the series is over and we take a glimpse at his average after that.
