genuinely makes me laugh that some people wanna have a conversation about who is the greatest english cricketer since botham.

root is so far clear. absolute champion of a player.

Anybody want to time capsule right now on how many centuries they think Root will finish up with?

I think he'll go past Ponting.... not sure about Kallis... even if he does play on for another 3-4 years.

he's averaging about 4 centuries a year in the last five years (including 2025). if he goes for another 4 years he'll leave kallis in the dust.

2 records that Tendulkar will keep even though he's lost quite a few over the years:

1.Most test centuries
2.Most ODI runs.

2 pretty big records actually of the game.
Doesn't matter actually even if those records get broken, doesnt take anything away from the signature Tendulkar we all remember - the backfoot punch.

However, will be very happy if Root gets to most runs, it's been a long time since big test records have been broken!
