I think it's silly to think that Sangakkara keeping wouldn't significantly damage his run output. Samplesizelol but it's worth noting that in the 13 tests from 2000–06 in which he didn't keep he averaged 68, as opposed to 41 when keeping.
I saw that and also that he played some reasonably weak teams there. Also I think if we really rate Sanga the keeper bat that much lower and attribute his weaker record primarily to keeping than peak, shan't we rate Sanga the pure bat significantly higher as well?

Edit: Ftr, I am not saying his output won't fall. I just think despite the fall, while batting at 6, he still will have the biggest output.

Nahid Rana remaining fit, breaking murali's record and ending up as getting seen better than Bradman...
He'd be lucky to play 10/15 more matches. And come on, are you really trying to jinx our players? You think they can get any worse?

And I was serious with my comment. Missing Bumrah isn't a death sentence.

How good was Alan Kott when keeping to spinners? Ian Healy was excellent keeping to Warne so must be fine while keeping to Murali.
Subliminal. His keeping to Deadly is unmatched.

There's a clip that was posted in an Underwood thread that was so phenomenal that it further planted the seed that Knott is firmly in the conversation for the 1st team, far less the 2nd.

With Barnes in the team, it's a no-brainer.

Don't know how this isn't obvious.

So you don't get as good a batsman or keeper.

After the 2nd team, the quality in keeper batsmen plummet so it's an open field, at this point Knott is the obvious answer. An ATG cricketer who has first team quality.

Again this is all an assumption that the team is facing chumps. I like to think they are facing ATG level opposition.

In that case you want your biggest threats and strength on your team to be maximised. Putting players in odd spots just compromises what you can achieve.

Lara can take a game away all by himself. Kallis cannot. So I would want Lara to be in the position to do that.
Kallid has 9000 runs @62 batting 4. Lara has 7500 runs@51. The best bats are all 3s/4s. You have to shuffle some of them. This is hardly batting players in odd spots in that context. It's backed by real world batting numbers and, more importantly, batting style.

You know what takes a game away? Scoring a lot of runs. Which was something Kallis was good at especially from 4.

of course you shuffle but in the first ATG XI nobody is out of place by more than one position.

But if you are going to put someone in a place Ill suited to them night as well select a slightly worse player who can score more there .

I think voting will plummet significantly post team D or E, people lose interest quite easily after a few teams. Also, think we should do 27 teams.
We can easily do 30 teams. You have done on an average 10 country teams of about 10 countries which is 100 teams. We are looking at 30 out of the 100.

Hmm, but that would blunt one of Lara's biggest strengths, which was making huge scores. He was better at getting huge doubles and triples than anyone else bar bradman probably.
Technically that would be Kuruppu with a double century every 7 innings

But realistically its Hammond with 7 doubles in 140 innings. We’ve also got Sanga with 11 in 233 and Lara with 9 in 232.
