All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

Because he is not ahead of Smith or Lara as a batsman.
Didn't need to pick Hammond though..
Plus Kallis is only marginally behind Lara and Smith as a batter, but he is also a proper 4th bowler who bowled at genuine pace when he was younger and was still bowling at 130-135 kmph even in his late 30s. As an overall cricketer he is well ahead. So I would be willing to lose 1-2 avg points in batting to gain a genuine seamer like him.

Too bad! You guys didn't pick him in the middle order... so can't complain now.
He isn't good enough frankly to be in the second team as a pure bat and they are picking him for no.6 because that's where the Sobers batting AR position is so they want to mirror the first team. Though I agree he should have been asked about first and then positioned later.

But he clearly is not a no.6 or a lower order bat. In fact he is the least desirable type of batsman for that position.

Then he should have been picked at 4 and someone like Border at 6

Hammond is clearly a better bat. And Hammond the bowler isn't far off from Kallis. Hammond and Kallis shouldn't be in the same team, it's an overlap frankly.
