If Barnes or Bedser are too slow then Botham shouldn't be rated either imo, but he's like the fifth greatest AR ever..makes sense.

Kyear went on a rant about how a better cricketer should always make an ATG XI and then voted that second for Wasim whom he rates less than Imran.

Who is this Kyear3 voter btw?
To be very clear and not allow the bs takes.

I said if you're claiming someone is the 3rd greatest cricketer of all time, there's no way to justify not making an AT team. We aren't talking 8th where personal preferences may step in...

If someone is the definitive best cricketer behind Bradman and Sobers, as many here claim him to be, he walks into these teams as easily as the other two.

He doesn't.

There's this ridiculous logic that somehow the bowling all rounder Imran makes up for not having an additional specialist batsman, when the other team is stacked down to no. 7...

Quantity doesn't overcome a lack of quality.

No you are assuming what a no.3 greatest cricketer HAS to be like.

So are Gilly and Warne greater cricketers than Hadlee and McGrath because they have confirmed places in an ATG XI and the latter do not? Maybe it's just the dynamics of the team selection.

If I was present at the first round vote, you know that Imran would have been selected over McGrath and you would be whining over how the second greatest bowler ever can't make the ATG XI.

Who is arguing that? We are arguing for a better bowling attack. The second ATG XI has a more rounded and effective attack than the first.

Miller made it. Awesome! We officially have a superior bowling attack to the first ATG XI.

Ambrose - Tall, miserly
Barnes - Mystery seam spin
Imran - Reverse and inswing master
Miller - Sharp and fast conventional swing
Murali - Most dangerous spinner ever

Compare this to the first XI. It's simply better on pace friendly tracks, better on flat tracks and better on spinning surfaces.

Steyn over Barnes would've made this attack even better imo. Just perfect variety of styles that compliment each other.

Go with Sangakkara. Better batsman (definitely ATG) over career and kept to Murali in close to 50 Tests. Can't beat that up. Warne-Gilly in the first and Murali-Sanga in the 2nd is some nice development as well. Walcott and Sangakkara fighting might just let Knott to sneak ahead
