Actually I would blame the batsman if they let themselves get mad enough to assault the bowler.

In a tense moment, a batsman loses the battle and the victor celebrates right in his face. Not even footballers do that. Yes, they should be able to control themselves, but it's not right that they should be expected to do so. Bowlers should absolutely be fined for in your face celebrations.

Just scoring at a slightly below average rate for a middle order batsman, instead of at a significantly below average rate, would have been enough to win the game. It's only in the past two days people have decided that striking at 3 an over is absolutely impossible against a 50 over old duke ball. Even attempting to do so is a fool's errand that would lead only to certain death. Disregard the past 30 years of 50 over duke balls routinely getting smacked around by tail-enders, none of that counts. Jadeja's failure to score at 3 an over is all the proof we need that scoring at 3 an over is a ridiculous ask, what kind of a clown would even suggest it.

I think I kinda summed it up that Jadeja was never going to do a Ben Stokes and the best he could hope to was to do a VVS. Now go check the Mohalil 2009 scorecard.

jadeja did do a ben stokes though. stokes was batting at a similar part of the innings overs-wise in the 3rd innings and also went along at a strike rate in the 30s
