*Official* Australia Tour of West Indies 2025

They should go to Zimbabwe. Zim is keen for tests (playing heaps this year) and hopefully the WI batters could learn to bat time and build some confidence.
We are caught between a rock and a hard place because our batters are tier 2 at best and our bowlers are possibly the third best pace attack in the world.

But there is certainly an argument to play Zimbabwe, Ireland and Afghanistan, learn to score runs again, bowl them out and win some tests.

So naturally, our next two series are India and New Zealand away.

Embrace the Calypso roots , get a coach who understands how to implement Bazball and play an attacking brand of cricket , the Orthodox way does not work with West Indies anymore, need to find the fun again in Test cricket. That's my thoughts
Greenidge, Haynes etc were very solid defensive players who also had the ability to smoke the ball

They were world class batsmen who had power

Not simply a matter of changing approach

I think that was Sammy's logic in selecting Carty, Hope and Chase. But it certainly won't work on pitches like that.

Slightly better? Significantly better. You have a good pace attack. You need to prepare pitches (both in tests and first class) where your batsmen can at least survive.
Seales must be protected at all costs, he was brilliant in England on some flat wickets, Alzarri Joseph was erratic but took wickets when he came here for the Test series but was by far their best bowler when they were here recently for the white ball stuff. Shamar Joseph wasn’t fully fit when he came here last year, but without knowing the ins and outs of his case, who knows whether we’ll see him again

Calypso roots requires vast array of strokes and a confidence to utilise those strokes while having the technique to block away good bowling too. West Indies has none of them at the moment.

I know Aus has held it now for ages and the WI have dropped off a cliff, but fmd that’s a storied trophy in world cricket and sport in general.

These wickets are not very helpful to create a new generation of batters. It's survival from ball one.
This is what I was saying yesterday too, to my knowledge the Windies first class wickets are underprepared and underdeveloped so makes their whole batting style about surviving and hiding in their shell, you'll never develope the mental game needed to score runs or a vast array of strokes on underprepared wickets.

That is why we are where we are. I used to think we just suck at batting, which we do, but whenever other teams come their batters struggle as much as we do. Even Smith looked all at sea yesterday. Imagine growing up playing in those conditions?

The irony here is that this past regional 4-day tournament saw the greatest number of centuries in years. Almost double the previous year.
