3rd Test (Lord’s) - 10 July to 14 July

Just watching the highlights, I think Stokes should be banned for pitch tampering. When he got out he slammed the bat into the pitch and took a chunk out of it.

Carse tried to strangle Jadeja and should be under investigation as well.

Duckett also shoulder barged Siraj.

This English side is very uncouth.
They'll have the last two guys crawling back to the pavilion on their bellies at this rate. Just like old times.

Whatever it takes!!!
Anyways, I think the next test will tell us a lot about this upcoming era of Indian cricket. Are we gonna be good enough to carry on from the Virat era, or are we going to slunk back to the previous eras?

I still think this side will have a few more punches in them. They have to play to a plan and not get carried away though.

I don't know man. Singles exclusively when you're the last pair don't really make a dent in the chase. Again, easy to say sitting on my fat ass and I can't begin to imagine the pressure and mentality required to pull it off, but from a self-righteously unemotional pov, a few boundaries go a long way in shifting the pressure.
He did score one boundary out of his 13. With a bit more placement, a couple of other shots could have made it as well. Feels odd that so many write this guy off.

But but but the team 'fought well', won more sessions etc
Took the words right out of my mouth. I'm already bracing myself for a similar line to what Shastri said after their 2018 series defeat when he was like "We are the best traveling side in 15 years". Didn't Gauti himself say something like "Come to India, we'll show them"? Ffs it doesn't matter how many sessions you win or how much of a fight you showed. Those standards might have made sense 30-40 odd years ago when India was still in the aspirational phase of their development. What matters is if you perform well to win the team the game.

I wont write that guy off. Its just that the team balance is all haywire sometimes. Mainly because all of our bowlers are attacking bowlers and we dont really have that one seamer and one spinner who can run in and bowl against the wind, keep the batsmen honest without going for magic wicket taking balls. And because none of our good bowlers can bat and none of our batters bowl. I think guys like Washy and NKR and even Harshit have enormous potential but they are being fast tracked and this is where we really miss the A tours under Dravid. That is what has changed for INdian cricket and taken us back.

All because of the ****ing egotist Ganguly. :(

Not writing him off at all. Not faulting him for today either. Just saying he needs to be given the license to be more assertive, in all situations. He has to be the difference-maker, not this non-descript role he's presently saddled with.

Unfortunately the T20 generation just thinks that means slogging at every ball. They dont get the idea that Duckett and Head etc have perfected. Wait for the balls that you can hit, handle the other balls and just keep playing the same way. Dont have to be overly aggressive or defensive. Just react to the balls.

England of course deserve to win if they bowl India out here, but they have a lot of areas where the team is falling short. At this rate, I can already picture Australia winning 5-0 (despite their pathetic batting performances of late).
I like this guy.

Talks a lot of sense.

It's also advertisers' fault glorifying individuals sometimes even bigger than the game which somewhat forces these players to think about these milestones even if its not their absolute priority.

I still remember in 2023, WC semi against NZ where all the chatter and hype was more centered around Kohli getting his 50th ton.
I think it's partially down to the celebrity culture in countries like India. When I was in Bombay a few years back, huge swaths of Marine Drive had ads or images of Kohli, Sachin, Dhoni, etc. In India, individual cricketers are treated almost like gods, rather than one piece of the big puzzle. I'll bet most England cricketers could walk through a typical British high street in relative obscurity. I doubt most even in Chester-le-street could notice Ben Stokes. When the Aussies won the CWC 2 years back, it was almost deserted at SYD airport compared to when India had their WT20 victory 6-7 months later.

I’m starting a 45 minute bike ride right now while cricket is on - chances India innings finish before my bike ride? 80%? 90%?

India underachieve with the resources they have at their disposal. It's a fact. You can build at least 3 international teams with the talent we have.

This is why its embarrassing to hear this 'fought well', had good sessions etc

I repeat, Australia would've sacked their coach if they had won 2 tests out of 11 matches. We are just not ruthless. This is another series which will end 4-1 or 3-1 most likely.

I'm tired of seeing this team win like 1 game and humiliate themselves for the rest of the series.
