3rd Test (Lord’s) - 10 July to 14 July

Looking eerily familiar to Edgbaston 2018 when India fell short by 30-35 runs chasing 194. Of course, England's bowling then had Anderson and Broad, while India was more one dimensional with Kohli the only man to put up a fight.

I had a feeling England were going to finally get favorable conditions, considering it's Lords on the last stretch of the match. I can only see it being a minefield.

To be honest, their lack of ability to play swing/seam bowling overseas is still a problem going back a number of years, including in the Ravi Shastri era. They should have won that series in 2018, but their shambolic batting cost them 2 matches. They've looked good this series primarily because of the dryer conditions in Britain that have created better tracks to bat on.

Any status on Bashir's fitness for bowling? I know it was his non-bowling hand that was hurt, but it seems he was sitting outside the boundary edge with Sam Cook as the sub fielder.

Hardly a minefield yet. Nothing has reared up even remotely like what Bumrah - and only Bumrah - was able to do earlier. Gill was in a mental dead zone and allowed his prior flaws to creep back into his game.

Had a chance in 2021 but they didn't played 5th test due to wanting to play IPL

Lokesh is safe. All on Akashdeep to survive till tomorrow. Even if he gets out now, we go into stumps.
The oddity of being a nightwatchman is that he got out, and got out quite quickly, yet he still did his job. A long way to go for England as now Washington will be walking out at #9 (if England even get that far!)

The key for India is to survive the first hour of play. Don't throw away wickets, and get the required runs to around 100 ish. Psychologically speaking, it will be easier presumably once the gap falls in the double digits. The ball might also get softer by then as well. Both Rahul and Pant are in form, so they have the capability to do it. Jadeja, Nitish, and Sundar are there as well. But, and it's a big but, they will have to hold their nerve, which so far they have done anything but in their 2nd innings.

Another problem with India's decision making is the nightwatchman. In my view, India's time to send the NWM should have been immediately after Nair's dismissal. Should they have sent Sundar instead of Deep to bat? For all his flaws, Sundar is extremely strong-headed, and with a solid technique of playing defensive. Can't say the same about the tailenders, who look as though they've barely held a bat in their life. He almost drew the 4th test at MCG against the Aussies last year. I guess they thought his runs would be handy down the order, so Deep went out instead.

If only england didnt throw away their wickets and set a decent score, they would've comfortably won.
That was pure bazball recklessness from england today

Nightwatchmen are sent out with an eye on the clock. You don't want to send him out prematurely and risk him getting out and exposing the next batsman due anyway. Especially not when your NW is really a bunny in human disguise.

Agree with the Sundar point though.

Regardless of the result, one thing clear is that England have been extremely arrogant, both in their demeanor and the way they play. I had a feeling many were going to be out cheaply.

If you listened to the English commentators, you'd come away thinking this is the best test side since the Aussies of the 90s and 2000s. This band of Bazballers is not even on par with Vaughan's side of the mid aughts or their golden era of 2008-13 under Alastair Cook.

Crawley and Pope are only in the side cause they're from the Southeast (Kent and Surrey, respectively). Harry Brook is such an idiot at times, and Stokes/Woakes look almost washed up. Archer can hardly hold his own for more than 6 overs. And why does Stokes like Bashir so much? I can already picture Starc, Hazlewood, and Cummins bowling them out for double digit scores this winter.

The Indian players were yelling at Crawley for timewasting yesterday when a day prior the same guy yelling at Crawley for wasting time was getting a handjob by his physio on the pitch and stopped the game for ten minutes, on top of the same team trying the very next day to waste time in the final stretch too but not doing it that well. Clearly, England are the least arrogant and hypocritical side in this game.
