We have Leach, Dawson, Carson, two Ahmed's, Patterson-White, Kellaway, Hartley and more, who are probably all better than Bashir.can we just please acknowledge that we have no spinners in our first class system?
bashir's not good enough
he's being hung out to dry
I think it's more that England are really, really ill suited to a deck like this, where it's low and slow and inconsistent and taking turn, so they can't just freely hit through the line of the ball and have to just grind out runs square of the wicket. Just nullifies their strengths as a batting unit as we saw in Pakistan. No accident that the only two players to spend any time at the crease today are the two who have some record of doing that.India were excellent with the ball.
England lacked application. Some of the dismissals are comedy worthy.
Jadeja is a specialist batter at this point.Does India need both Sundar and Jadeja in the same test XI? I reckon an extra specialist bat could be deployed for one of them.
His spell now is pivotalThe thing is they don't have many runs to play with.
He might get the 1 or 2 quick wickets but might go for plenty thus making it easier for India to consolidate.
You have to keep the casuals among the home audience hooked.i really do not enjoy ian ward's defiant commentary by the way - he always tries to skew the situation to make it look like England are doing well
I don't disagree but as Test players they should be able to adapt to various conditions and pitches. The majority of the pitches around the world are slow and have been for a while and some English players have got scores.I think it's more that England are really, really ill suited to a deck like this, where it's low and slow and inconsistent and taking turn, so they can't just freely hit through the line of the ball and have to just grind out runs square of the wicket.
