3rd Test (Lord’s) - 10 July to 14 July

The Wheel is Forever
What’s the selection for both teams?

For India, Bumrah and Deep to open bowling, given Deeps penchant for new ball wickets, with Siraj first change?

Rest of attack an open question given spinners don’t do great here overall. Jadeja plays given his batting and his history - he should get the series to find his form with the ball. So that leaves maybe one more spot - Sundar for batting/spin vs Reddy for batting/pace? Or just play a proper spinner in Yadav?

I think India need to start with bowling attack best able to take twenty wickets and fill in the rest from there. Rahul, Jaiswal, Gill, Pant pick themselves as well. So that’s eight players out of eleven definitely set.

I say bring Jurel. Yadav for Reddy. Go with a bowling lineup of Bumrah, Deep, Siraj, Yadav, Jadeja. Though you can convince me of Arshdeep as well instead of Yadav.

What I want to see happen:
Jaiswal
Rahul
Nair
Gill*
Pant
Jurel+
Jadeja
Kuldeep
Akashdeep
Bumrah
Siraj

What will actually happen:
Jaiswal
Rahul
Nair/Sai
Gill*
Pant+
Reddy
Jadeja
Sundar
Akashdeep
Bumrah
Siraj
Jurel should ideally take over gloves but reddy can be third seamer if god frobid any bowler gets injured midway

Only Bumrah will come in. I doubt India will make any other change. Gambhir and Gill are both conservative leaders, they like to bat deep. So rest of the XI stays the same (given they won with this combination).

England on the other hand will replace Carse and Tongue for Atkinson and Archer. Thats it. Bowling attack will do much better.

Since England announce their team beforehand, India will stick to batting till no.8 even more, just to have more buffer against a better looking Eng attack, plus lords.

Woakes
Atkinson
Carse

5 genuine pace options, 2 spin options if required in Root and Bethell and batting till 11. This should be the lineup that England should go with for Lord's.

Jaiswal
Rahul
Nair
Gill
Pant
Jurel (wk)
Jadeja
Sundar
Deep
Bumrah
Siraj

With the team winning the second test, I won't want to make too many changes to it, especially those who contributed to the win. Just Bumrah and Jurel in for Prasidh and NKR who were non-factors in this test. Jurel strengthens both batting and keeping. I will give Nair one more test before drafting Easwaran in if he fails again.

Atkinson had long net sessions in the gap between the 1st and 2nd test. So he's been ready. I presume Archer is too. Both should and will play.

England could do this

Crawley, Duckett, Pope, Root, Brook, Smith, Bethell, Stokes, Woakes, Archer, Atkinson

Just saw Baz interview. He more or less said that Bashir and Archer would play and the batting lineup would be untouched. 2 of the 3 pacers of previous test will play based on who recovers better. So, only one change in England squad for Lord's. Archer coming in for one of the pacers.

Depending on what the wicket looks like I think they’ll go with 5 bowlers this time. I think Sundar will keep his spot and Kuldeep won’t play.

Atkinson will play too.
Only Woakes will be retained from the three seamers that played in 2nd test
