2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

i think we had some pretty shocking anti-cricket bouncy roads from after the johnson ashes to right before that series where south africa rinsed us at hobart (and maybe a bit after that series too?)
there was also that period around the turn of the decade just come where the MCG sucked so much but i feel that was localised rather than rigging it
And as here, the arguments about whether it was "doctoring" or not were totally beside the point, the problem was that it was terrifyingly boring.

Wtf are you talking about? That series most definitely had a better balance between bat and ball than the vast majority of English Tests since the 2023 Ashes.
there was no balance because India were crusing through and England were getting humiliated every test lmfao

Superb spell this from Deep, some of those balls to Smith have been unplayable. Shows how awful we bowled, not one of our seamers got one to move even close to this. This'll be all over well before tea.

I just want a variety of pitch conditions on display within series. It's not so much that I hate these kind of wickets (watching a captain panic in the face of a 4th innings Bazball onslaught can be good viewing) but that in a five test series there needs to be different match situations on show.
Similarly I think Australian pitches have been too consistently green in recent home summers and would have preferred the odd road.

Excellent analysis there by DK, explaining that the ball seamed away when the seam faced the slips and seamed in when the seam faced the stumps. And silly me, I thought the ball just moves which ever way your knob points when you release the ball.

If you were right, it would explain why I keep on hitting myself in the face when I bowl.

Joe Root certainly has questions to answer.

In all seriousness though, England has looked completely clueless as soon as the ball has deviated more than a millimetre. It’s why they prep flat decks - they lack the temperament and technique to survive and prosper in difficult conditions.
Edit: and of course, they lack all the natural attributes required to excel at the top level.

Of anything

If the balance is that miserable and embarrassing, then damn it tbh, literally the worst series in cricketing history perhaps.
That has nothing to do with the balance and bat and ball, that's just England picking **** teams with bad players. Unless you think this England team is also a **** team with bad players, then that problem would have solved itself anyway without rolling out an endless conveyer belt of dead puddings.

Lowkey Brother, I'd rather every game in England ends 700-800-Draw rather than that series being ever redone, Hell, I'd rather Cricket stop getting played in England before the 2021 India-England series ever gets replicated.
