2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

The 3rd test was the one I was talking about.

No idea whether that was really down to the colour of the ball tbh.
From what I've heard the ball was actually the biggest problem; the extra layer of lacquer they put on the pink ball to help it keep its colour made it really skid on unusually fast, which made it completely impossible to play when some balls would turn square and some would shoot through

Jeez is it really that hard to admit the entire world tamper home wickets to be productive to what the home teams perceive as their strengths?

i think that the (correctly made) point is a lot of the commentariat in the west act like it’s a Shifty Loser Tactic only deployed by Shifty Subcontinental Boards when they’re just as guilty… usually there’s a bit more intellectual honesty in the discussion about it on here

Granted I don't read much of the print media, but I doubt whether there was much anguish about the wickets in India on our last couple of tours.

Whereas I do remember a great deal of Australian angst about the wickets here in 2015 after Broad skittled them at Trent Bridge.
Maybe I'm showing my bias too much but I do think Australia at least have a bit of a claim to the moral high ground with "pitch doctoring". I honestly don't think we've been guilty of ****ing with pitches to get the ideal result the team needs. Most other nations OTOH have. India aren't even that bad in that regard!

A few thoughts whilst I have a moment:

Well played India, much the better team this match.

Why do we opt to bowl first on flat pitches and this hand the scoreboard pressure advantage to the opposition?

Why are we serving up such flat pitches that negates our main bowling threat?

With rain around and a seemingly ultra safe declaration, why did we not try for the draw? Just totally devaluing Test Cricket.

God this lot annoy me at times.
