2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

Prasidh Krishna is playing for his India Test career at age 29. Must be a sobering thought. At least he'll always have the IPL.
Insanely stupid comment tbh. He's not getting dropped unless he's severely injured and other prospects are suddenly Bumrah-esque. Anyone who refuses to accept reality should check in to rehab.

if plodsidh is this safe a selection then india has some serious problems they need to address lol
The other bowlers not in the XI who have a chance of displacing him are even more raw prospects who don't have as substantial of a FC record as he does. Is it bad, yes, but there's nothing India can do beyond playing the ones they pick and see who they can hold on to and who might be replaceable, as well identify and nurture future prospects coming through. At least he's taking wickets, which is more than you can say for Siraj or Akash Deep currently.

Whatever it takes!!!
Kidding aside, Prasidh does have potential but at 29, will any peak he hits in the future even be good enough to win us games? Maybe the management thinks the answer is yes. So we will see.

Call me crazy, but I really think that if he keeps his rhythm, Reddy's natural swinging balls are going to do something here in England with the Duke.

Prasidh is thereabouts with the best we have unfortunately. To me it’s still pretty clearly Bumrah > Daylight > Siraj > Akash > Prasidh > Mehkesh and others, but there’s not much in it to xix’s credit.

He’s very much fighting for his spot every series though, as are the other non Bumrah/Siraj bowlers. You can only have that long a rope if you’re going at 5s and 6s half the time.

I see him being useful in New Zealand. And he brings a point of difference to our attack. So I can see the upside but you are right, guy has to start performing. Mainly bowl less loose balls.. He is very much like the 2011 Umesh right now in that respect. Bowls 2 jaffas, 2 decent deliveries and 2 hit me balls every over.

Gill had a false shot percentage of 3.5%. Average in England is 12% and it's the most controlled hundred in England since CricViz started recording stats for it in 2006. Wildly good innings.
I can only imagine what Duckett and do will do to our bowling line up on this flat pitch.
Taking nothing away from gill though, eccepo from him.

We haven’t seen Kamboj outside of one tour game. As much as I liked what little I saw, you’re being way too optimistic.

I mean it was pretty much a road which had some help for bowlers when there were clouds overhead and ball was still in decent shape. Its good that he is showing the mental strength to play according to the situation but this does not mean he has become some great batsman overnight. We are hardly out of trouble here given we are still 200 short of a par score.

Also, we fail to accept these were flat tracks. If Siraj found nothing in it in terms of swing and seam, the likes of Mukesh or Kambhoj or even Arshdeep would likely have just been cannon fodder on these tracks. Our problem is so many of our bowlers are the main wicket takers for their respective FC sides and are always trying to bowl aggressive than maintain a line and length etc. This is where Ganguly basically sabotaging our entire cricketing system (including the A program) has come back to bite us.

Under Dravid with the A side, there was a clear plan of roles for the next set of bowlers, especially seamers and today we have none. Even though VVS is a pretty decent replacement for Rahul.

I've been following Kamboj for some time in FC too and I'm very positive on him. As @honestbharani also mentioned bowlers are going too much for the special ball rather than maintaining a line n length. But that's exactly what Kamboj does, that's his usp. He's extremely accurate despite his limited FC experience. Both the FC record and eye test support him and he also showed that in the tour game. With the extremely low competition at the top level, I don't think even if we hurry his debut a bit, it would be the worst thing because his floor level is quite high imo. He doesn't feed those hit me balls too often.
