Yeah but Reddy hasn't shown anything that suggests he can be a 4th pace option. That's the bigger issue here, he couldn't get the ball when it was favouring pacers in Aus, what do you think is going to happen on much better batting conditions?

It’s not ideal but partially mitigated if we play 4 proper bowlers (Kuldeep included).
The alternative is pick both Kuldeep and Jadeja which I’m not opposed to.
Who would you pick?

These pitches are much drier than usual and Kuldeep imo fills that gap, both I terms of wicket taking threat and volume of overs. I'd like the 5th bowler to only be a relief bowler to the main pacers, provided Kuldeep can do his job well

I'd favour this. Rest him for the next test and you might be able to bring him back for the last two.
I'd go with Jadeja/Kuldeep in along with 3 pacers (no Shardul/Reddy as a No. 8 option). Alternatively, if you really want Reddy in, take out one of Nair or Sai and bring him in to bat at 6. Regardless, they need to pick a team to take wickets, not bat till 9. The lower order batting won't help when your 3rd/4th bowlers give away half the runs in 20 overs combined.
Reddy doesn't give relief though? That's the whole point with not picking him at the moment, he doesn't have the quality to bowl at least 10 overs in an innings with a Test level of control/incision. He is basically a younger version of the current Shardul, with more batting upside available at the moment. Did Shardul stop Bumrah/Siraj/Prasidh from getting overbowled? No, so why do you think Reddy will help Siraj/Prasidh/Akash Deep more?
If they feel spinners are practically useless on the pitch given, then they should probably risk this bowling lineup: Jadeja, Siraj, Prasidh, Akash Deep, one of Bumrah/Arshdeep. You have a debutant with a poor FC record and a wicket taker 5 Tests into his career who's not figured out how to control the runs yet, but at least there's a higher chance that they all get more from the conditions than the spinners. Akash Deep at 8 is a longer tail, but India don't have the luxury in these conditions anyway to get a stronger tail without losing bowling strength.

I thought Reddy was pretty decent in Aus imo and should have been bowled more by the captain tbh. Seemed fine for a few overs to me.
I don't see how a quality wrist spinner can be useless on the pitches we've seen all throughout the last few months in county cricket. With how dry the weather has been, there's no way Kuldeep doesn't get something out of this pitch

Yeah I don't get this. If you want to play Sundar, replace him with Jadeja. This useless idea of playing 3 all rounders in Reddy, Jadeja and Sundar is going to kill us. Pick a bowling attack that will get you 20 wickets you ****ing idiots. Pick Kuldeep!!!

Playing only two specialist seamers with some combination of Sundar/Jadeja/Kuldeep risks a lot on the toss. It's been very hot this week in Birmingham but it's been humid as well and it's overcast this morning, so I don't think there'll be any more assistance for spinners then you'd normally get.
So if Bumrah isn't fit then I'd say you need to play one of the backup seamers. Having two plus one of Reddy/Thakur doesn't feel like enough if you lose the toss and field.

They are going with the slightly dumber idea of playing 3 ARs at 6-8 and 3 fast bowlers. It does not make sense as we will still struggle to get 20 wickets and its even more silly when one of those 3 fast bowlers is not a fully fit Bumrah.
