Subcontinent tour later this year, those days may not be far off yet !Ha Ha, before @Silver Silva comes to Debbie Downer this. Just remember the bad old days when our batters couldnt reach 50

I would have Markram at 3 and look for another opener, may be give Van Tonder or Brand a chance, both have only 2 test matches under their belt, give them a go,Who bats 3 if he doesn't is the issue. None of Stubbs or beddingham suited to it either.
True. We could also go there and do well. Largely untested in the SC except Bavuma and Markram I think.Subcontinent tour later this year, those days may not be far off yet !![]()
Then you have to drop one of Stubbs or beddingham.I would have Markram at 3 and look for another opener, may be give Van Tonder or Brand a chance, both have only 2 test matches under their belt, give them a go,
Mulder has been excellent this test, but he is not a number 3, need to try a few things out regarding positions 2/3.Then you have to drop one of Stubbs or beddingham.
Van Tonder isn't an opener. If you want to look at another option outside the squad its Jordan Hermann.
Rickelton has batted more at three then Aiden so would make more sense to move him if you want to move one.
Could Pretorius not open be our version of David Warner all 3 formatsMulder has been excellent this test, but he is not a number 3, need to try a few things out regarding positions 2/3.
It would be great for the Proteas if that happened, but i dont think its the right time to try that option just yet,Could Pretorius not open be our version of David Warner all 3 formats? And brevis 4 or 5 with makram or ryan at 3,
I'm not convinced Bosch is a good enough bowler to to play him and Mulder. It should be one or the other, with the third seamer being a specialist. Who that should be is up for grabs at the moment, but that does have a lot to do with so many of them having been injured. To me, this is the best XI as of now. But it is great that there are good alternatives for each slot.
Markram
Rickleton
Brevis
Bavuma
Pretorius
Verreynne
Mulder
Jansen
Bosch
Maharaj
Rabada
As of now, it is Ngidi but there are about 20 bowlers behind his back vying for that third seamer role.I'm not convinced Bosch is a good enough bowler to to play him and Mulder. It should be one or the other, with the third seamer being a specialist. Who that should be is up for grabs at the moment, but that does have a lot to do with so many of them having been injured.
Or Bosch at 3I'm not convinced Bosch is a good enough bowler to to play him and Mulder. It should be one or the other, with the third seamer being a specialist. Who that should be is up for grabs at the moment, but that does have a lot to do with so many of them having been injured.
I think it can work. Between them Bosch and Mulder should be able to cover the 3rd seamer/4th bowler role because there bowling is so polar. With brevis + makram to make up the 5th bowler overs I think it's plausible.I'm not convinced Bosch is a good enough bowler to to play him and Mulder. Because he is our best test bat and likes to bat 4/5. Plus captain. You don't disrupt your best player. Why cant Bavuma bat 3?
I think its best for your team's long term to have Bavuma bat 3.Because he is our best test bat and likes to bat 4/5. Plus captain. You don't disrupt your best player.
