I thought Smith was already out, the way you guys are reacting if Jansen dropped some top order batter. Very dramatic i guess being the first fielder to ever drop a caatch in the history of the game

That Carey wicket towards the end was a big blow. He could have potentially taken them to 270 plus. Would be pretty handy if Lyon can play one of those annoying innings tomorrow to stretch this to 250

Not many have scored in this game, but I think Khawaja is a bit overrated. He gets a lot of props for scoring heavily in a tough era, but when you go through his work during that time frame in detail, he has consistently raked on flat pitches and generally been found wanting when it's tougher. He is one of the most reliable batsmen of his generation on docile surfaces, but his 2022-2025 surface numbers lead to an inflated impression of his general level v quality bowling. There was a similar trend before he was dropped by Langer with the odd good performance like SAF at home in 2016, though he has gone from below average to very decent v spin.

Think Australia had enough quite a few overs before Carey's dismissal.

Thing is those 47 all out matches are so rare. Normally there is always 1 or 2 partnerships. Its very rare to go bang bang 10 times in quick succession.

He averages 45, including 50 when opening. Only has a poor average against India. Won't find many other top order bats with that record.

Absolutely agree. In the modern era many would take him but I do get what Bazball is saying to an extent.

When tested v India, South Africa & England he averages 29, 36 & 40.

Given that the test will be done in three days and both batting line ups have been poor, not sure it's a great advert for the game.
Tests should be 4 days these days anyways everywhere except maybe England and Australia which have the flattest pitches.
