Why make the call himself about whether it's dead? That's how Bairstow got into the trouble. Just leave it alone until the play has definitely stopped.

Then bend your knee so gravity releases the ball back to terra firma. Replay showed it wasn't yet trapped in the pad, it was still moving when he put his fingers around the ball, it was on it's way to being trapped, sure, but not there yet.

He prevented Carey from taking a regulation catch by nefarious means, reacting like he had his hand stuck in the cookie jar and his mum walked into the kitchen and turned on the light.

South Africa has had a shady history, and I don't think I am going too far in saying this incident is probably at the top of the list of bad things they have done.

complete waste of a selection here - Lyon. Shouldve played Boland in a sudden death match on a green deck with overcast skies >> Game would be over by now.

Lyon fine for normal Series where quick bowlers need a break.
