Against some weaker oppos though.Bowling is quality. In the last year a lot of different Saffas have stood up and scored 100s.
That's true, but their 2-0 win in Bangladesh was impressive. That's not an easy place to win.Against some weaker oppos though.
Aust by 69 runsAustralia by 120 runs or 5 wickets
Not exactly a walk in the park but a brisk walk nonetheless
Who would you want instead then?Marnus just can't be picked. Would be an objectively terrible decision to play him
No you're underrating how bad Marnus' form is. He's struggling to survive against county trundlers. Not only would Konstas or Inglis be far more likely to succeed, so would probably a lot of other domestic cricketers around the country right nowWho would you want instead then?
Considering the alternative is Konstas who has played literally zero professional games in England in his career, I would prefer Marnus all day everyday and not just by a small amount either
That just simply isn't remotely true if you actually look over a decent sample (three innings in County is not even close to enough to draw any meamingful conclusions from). His last Test summer, while not outstanding, was by no means a disgrace at all, chipped in with a couple of handy 50s in what were not particularly good batting conditions. Similar story in the Shield games he played, averaged 38 for the season which isn't even in the same universe as "struggling to survive".No you're underrating how bad Marnus' form is. Wasn't even picked for that Aus A squad that came out this morning, which is a bit ridiculous. Him and Jack Clayton not being there when Matthew bloody Gilkes of all people is there is utterly laughable. Peake a weird selection too (has plenty of talent but only 1 FC game, too early imo)Tim Ward is currently playing in England. Get him into the side ffs. Proper opener, had a good Shield season and a NSWman by birth. Ticks every box for a successful test career.
Haha Gilkes, really?Wasn't even picked for that Aus A squad that came out this morning, which is a bit ridiculous. Unfortunately, yesHaha Gilkes, really?
Nah you're just pathologically pro-incumbent. He's not been good enough for a while and a look at his batting in county should be enough to show he's less likely to make runs than alternatives. That just simply isn't remotely true if you actually look over a decent sample (three innings in County is not even close to enough to draw any meamingful conclusions from). While I would have liked a little more, the idea that Marnus has been an absolute liability and needs to be metaphorically fired into the surface of the sun is at best an immense exaggeration
This might be true in a country where there are reasonable alternatives. Unfortunately, yours has none.Nah you're just pathologically pro-incumbent. He's not been good enough for a while and a look at his batting in county should be enough to show he's less likely to make runs than alternatives.
I'll save us some time: They'll pick him, he'll be ****, I'll tell you I told you so and you'll say "it doesn't mean it was wrong to pick him it was just 1 game small sample blah blah", but you'll still be wrong and I'll still be right
