Odd that NZC dropped their two best performing batsmen from match 1 (Mariu and Foxcroft). Almost as if they're treating these as warm-ups and wanted those who hadn't done well a 2nd chance.WTF is going on here lads? I know we've put out a team with a lot of international experience but this is wild. Did the Kiwis send their D team out by accident?
No, I think it is a pretty good and expected NZ A team.WTF is going on here lads? I know we've put out a team with a lot of international experience but this is wild. Did the Kiwis send their D team out by accident?
Given that the full NZ white ball side seems to pretty much only play in ICC tournaments these days, and the regular home summer first XI is often pretty close to a first choice NZ A side, probably fair to say this is more of an NZ development XI, but a proper one stacked with guys the NZC is hoping will blossom in the next 2 or 3 years and take the reigns from the main eventers.

Interesting. FWIW, I wasn't being derisive, it's just that our A team has consistently got twatted by everyone they've played against for a long time. And this has held true even with experienced internationals in the lineup. I'm staggered we're dominating like this. No, I think it is a pretty good and expected NZ A team.
It is only missing some fringe players who have overseas professional contracts, all of whom are seamers. In this case I would say 1 or 2 out of Duffy, N Smith, Sears would have toured if they didn't have county contracts. Probably only one of them tbh as some of them are now 'too established'. And Shipley is on an injury comeback.
To compound that weakness in the seamers - it. is also because they didn't pick enough of them.
I would say K Clarke is a level below the rest of the squad at the moment, based on domestic cricket. And Lister is coming back from injury, not played since January-ish. So, that is the major weakness in the squad. Only picked 3 seamers and 2 have question marks on their current levels.
The team is a bit weak in spinners (relative to other areeas), simply because we don't have much depth there of players under 32 years old. The two on tour are the rights ones to have picked.
If you are blasting out the NZ A batting, it is probably simply that you are bowling well / have good bowlers. In the fist List A match NZ had specialist batting down to number 8, even if some are novices in Asian conditions or at A level, that is still stacked batting.
It is natural to expect them to improve as the tour progresses as they familiarise to the conditions, but I wouldn't bother adding caveats thinking that we have sent duds.
Made a mockery of it. It's not like there were loads of crowds watching who wanted sixes! Was wondering how we made 344 til I saw how far in they put the bloody rope lol
LmaoWas wondering how we made 344 til I saw how far in they put the bloody rope lol
AI is still so bloody awful with anything involving numbers
I think the commentators might have referenced that this was the no. 2 ground at the stadium? Not sure.Watching this, I'm struck by how small the ground already is before you put the rope in about 15 metres lol. They've pushed it back today and it's still not a big ground.
Kiwis are going to get this done today I'd say unless the ball sticks in the pitch and they struggle with the spinners. This pitch has evolved during the series and given both teams different challenges. And I think pushing the rope in during match 2 created a very different proposition too for that match.
Been a worthwhile series with the teams having to deal with a variety of match conditions in different games.
Oh no kidding?I think the commentators might have referenced that this was the no. 2 ground at the stadium? Not sure.
