Next year Donald George Bradman happened - He scored 974 runs in 5 Tests 7 innings with 4 centuries and closed all arguments on who was the best ever

Pretty sure everyone knew Hammond was a fan of the ladies and picked up some souvenirs along the way.

Would pick Lara if just judging batting, but Hammond with all skills considered.
My only push back to that would be that Lara too was a special slip catcher, not in Hammond's league, but close enough.

But they are really close for me. Literally have Lara 14th and Hammond 15th all time, both ahead of Kallis and Hutton
