James Anderson States His Age Is Not The Reason He Is Not Performing These Ashes

I cannot remember two games where I've played so badly – but don't blame my age

I am not sure if I will be allowed to copy-paste the whole telegraph article but James Anderson does not feel that his age is the reason he has not been performing this Ashes.

Always was a stubborn guy, can't believe he's taken to the Telegraph to write an article defending himself (is he also begging for selection in the 3rd test?) mid-way through a series.
He's getting a rest. Both him and Broad looked knackered. Wood And woakes - both experienced bowlers, come in

England's new philosophy is a double-edged sword for him.
Bazball doesn’t really suit him at all. They been putting flatter pitches in England lately once the swing and seam is gone as well as cloudy conditioning then he doesn’t have much pace to be threatening and doesn’t have a great bouncer or Yorker either. His used to bowling out teams for under 250 in swinging conditions. His not use to bowling 40 overs a day and being out there for like 4 sessions grinding on flat pitches for wickets

Father Time is undefeated. It’s just the way it is. Who knows for real? He has done it longer than the vast majority of his fellow atheletes are capable of and it’s truly a remarkable achievement. Tendulkar played in four separate decades which is an unbelievable achievement but it’s altogether another level to play until 40 as he has as a fast bowler - 181 Tests - that’s just insane for a fast bowler.

Hopefully he can finish the ashes on a high but obviously his time is coming as it is for everyone.

And it’s sad for me too, while the guy himself never seemed like the type you’d love as a spectator - he represents the classical cricketer, like a Dravid. Relying on time tested skills or swing bowling - as good as anyone who has practiced the art - instead of the new generation of IPL reverse scoopers and bowlers whose repertoire consists of the slower ball and the even slower ball.

While I can’t deny that Test cricket is very much as exciting as it has ever been in history, there is a small part of me that will miss cricketers line this.

Also Anderson showed his end is coming soon when he didn’t wanna take that new ball on the last day of the 1st test. I can still see him going on another year to be honest but

The flip side of scoring your runs quickly is your bowlers don’t get long to rest. Especially telling in a crammed series like this
