Have you ever hit the winning runs?

I had an all run 3 inside the square once including making them throw the stumps down by pretending I’d be short of my ground at the non striker’s end. They took all the stumps out and got it wrong. Didn’t feel right to run a fourth inside the square for the win we just took the tie it was a 45 over game. Hitting the winning runs I don’t mind. Done it quite a lot but I prefer batting at 1 so you don’t get the chance to hit the winning runs often there it has happened though when I’ve batted through

Interesting. Has there any such professional cricketers been here on CW? I heard Atherton was here briefly or did I completely made it up in my head
Martin Crowe and Neesham from an NZ pov ... not sure about other nationalities.

Oh and possibly Erv McSweeney.

What were their usernames?

I'd like to hit them up and read their comments. Also if any one can shed some light on Atherton be great. From memory, heard something like Richard drew him away

Yes, and it was surreal. It was a 10 over game, and we were batting second. It was a steep chase and we were going to lose the game as the top order didn't get going in the first 4 overs, I came in to bat with nothing to lose, no pressure. I went after the bowlers from ball one and scored 2-3 boundaries every over, it was just one of those days, everything was coming off. Despite of me scoring at a decent click and getting us close, we still needed 17 of the final over. A left arm spinner comes, bowls two no balls(above the waist). I scored 2 runs off both no balls. Naturally the bowler is out of the attack and I have to face another bowler(a medium pacer), but I am getting cramps in my legs by now. 11 of 6 required, I score a single on ball one, guy on the other end scores a single on ball two and I hit a four on the third one. So it's 5 required of 3 balls, the bowler nails two yorkers and I couldn't score a run in those two balls. 5 of 1 needed, the bowler bowls a good length delivery and I absolutely smash it out of the park. That was the greatest moment of whatever cricket I have played.

Actually, I almost hit the winning runs once. 3 to win, last ball of the innings. I hit a beautiful straight drive, but the guy at the other end couldn't get out of the way, got hit on his ankle and we lost.

Whatever it takes!!!
I have had 2 or 3 games where we needed like 3 or more to win off the last ball and I could not hit that many. But never somehow had a tied game too from such situations. I have won the game off the last ball twice, lost it I think 3 times but never a tie, somehow.

40 over game I think.

As number 11, I have square driven a ball for a boundary in the last over to win the game. Division 3ish, but for a number 11, that is an achievement.
You and I should bat together someday, Migara. #11s unite.

Didn’t Mitch m come on here and give someone a spray as well?
Yep. He gave Phlegm a spray (lol). Perhaps Te Ahu Davis gave Phlegm a spray too. In fact, if in doubt, give Phlegm a spray; or, better yet - nuke the Phlegm from orbit - it's the only way to be sure.
