I definitely agree with you. He's shown that he has the ability to do it, but he needs to be more consistent.

Shamsi looks like he's benefitting from getting an extended run in the side and not coming in just when they want to give Tahir a break. But since batting is our concern, can we really afford to play Nortje, Ngidi, Rabada, and Shamsi together? If we want two spinners then should they be Linde and Maharaj given that Maharaj offers more with the bat than Shamsi?

The long tail isn't a new problem as none of our batsmen being able to bowl and none of our bowlers being able to bat has been an issue for quite some time. You might be able to get away with it if you have a stellar batting line-up that's almost always going to come off, but we're a long way from that.
It is going to be a strong debate moving forward. Batting to 7 is massively risky with our batting line-up. If we had an AB/Amla at peak then it will be fine.

Maybe on ocassions we can get away with it but we really do need to get fast bowlers who can contribute with the bat & Coetzee/Jansen/Ntini do look to have a bit of batting talent but they still need to hone it.

Of course we could just go the route of backing our bowling to win us games and choosing our strongest bowling line-up & the batting needs to work around that. I want to see if Shamsi can step up against the likes of India/England consistently now. Big period coming up for him. If he does , he will be a lock & then Linde is the better package to balance the team.

This is obviously 50-over cricket.

If it were me I would be getting AB, Morris back for the T20 WC because I don't think we have many youngsters ready for this format.

Watching the game yesterday and Pollock(I think it was) commented on the body position of Rassie when he was trying to hit out. I don't think he is a T20 player who is going to really put the opposition under the pump. Neither is Hendriks,or Temba or Biljon. I give Klaasen a pass because I've seen him produce some fast paced innings at international level. But the everyone else bar QDK and Faf are droppble imo.

Van der Dussen taking a real liking to Jofra here. 6, 4, 4, dot, 6 and one ball of the seventeenth to come.

This surely can’t be the bowling attack we will take to World Cup because unless we get lucky and chase every game we have no chance.Afraid the older Curran ain’t good enough.why was one of the back up bowlers not tried or even Moen.

Quality innings from Malan. I was watching on mute, but it looked like he was going to accept the LBW before Jos had a word.

De Kock is a woeful captain. Youngster going the journey against one of the world's best and he just turns his back immediately

Is there a score South Africa could defend? Linde has been their only consistent bowler and he finished the series with 1 wicket.

Pfft bowlers are over-rated.

ugh

Incredible stuff by malan though. Even starting this series I wasn't convinced they'd go with Malan when it came to the World t20s, but that now looks decided.

Roy's record continues to be average, and given they are likely to go at him with spin in India his position looks vulnerable now.

For SA moving forward I think you've got to get Faf opening and also bring in Janneman Malan. Other suggestion might be to play 3 spinners and bring in Fortuin/Smuts

Touch of the Alex Tudors for Malan there.

Kudos to him for taking that last single though. Incredibly unselfish given there was still two overs left to score one run.

I keep thinking sooner or later he will revert to the mean, but happy he keeps proving me wrong.
