Boohoo the bad man said mean things about australia
LOL, they talk tough and make out they're hard but fair and all that bollocks, but as soon as a bit of criticism comes their way.........biggest Waaaaaahhhhs ever. **** off you sooks.
You guys are basically doing the "play the poster rather than the post" except playing the nationality and big-time whataboutery. I even admitted that Australia aren't innocent of this, but it feels like most of you are refusing to argue against the point (which is a valid as **** one regardless of who you support), but bringing up examples to the contrary to bash us as a supporter group as a whole.

I will admit TJB probably overstepped the mark by calling it cheating (had missed that point), but it's still cynical.

Pretty sure we'd be clear cut underdogs even with pitch perfect preparation as the side simply isn't good enough. Might have been different with Warner/Smith though.

This thread has been a good read. Some great contributions made by several big names. More exciting than cricket itself. Keep up the banter lads!

i feel tired tbh did some overtime today. not sure if that's what you were going to say i'm feeling but nah mate i'm good i got this.

i understand you're feeling emotional. countries on the downturn tend to need to exaggerate the greatness of their current state, hence pat cummins and mitch starc are apparently the best fast bowlers in the world right now and during the ashes the glasshouse quartet was being compared to the 80s windies by the various cheap benchmark00 knock offs still on the forum shelves.

but sadly the reality is australia just isn't all that relevant anymore. you've probably had more PMs and palace coups this decade than the average warn torn third world nation and no one is concerned about this. the cricket team can't win anywhere the ball spins anymore, not even bangladesh, and again no one really cares. you'll never see threads about cricket needing a strong australia because a strong australia comes with the asterix that they're only good at non-contact international sports where you can't cop a hiding for mouthing off.

imagine if warner was finally given the spear tackle he deserves? the delicious tears about "the line" being finally crossed would go on for years. not that i think he'd open his yapper if he was in a situation where even someone as seemingly mild as ben from accounts smith could respond in the appropriately manly, non-australian manner.
This amusing parody of the anti-Australian sentiment around here gives me quite a chuckle.

It's funny because Pat Cummins is a better fast bowler than anything New Zealand have produced since the 1980s.

I think the consensus in the US politics thread is you do t get a say whether you are saved or not; the market should decide.
I think that the general consensus is that US politics is to be entirely avoided if you want a semblence of sanity to hold onto past 2020.

No way Pat Cummins is a better bowler than Shane Bond. I'd even rate Boult higher than him.

The warm up game is being played on a pitch that aids spin from day one; the spinners have taken all the wickets that have fallen so far.

Loved the obligatory mention of the 'little lankans' in Burgey's rant, someone ought to make a little bingo card for his isms.

Visiting sides getting more prep via competitive tour matches is not something reasonable to expect now. You professionalize a sport, pay everyone big salaries, hire coaches and staff and selectors based on results/expected results, then you incentivize this behaviour. Add to it compressed schedules due to LOs and T20 leagues, and it's gonna happen.

At least it is alleviated by latest technology, more money leading to teams being able to get their own training sessions with hired help and prepared pitches, and less need for acclimatization than earlier.
Dangerous precedent IMO, not every board can afford to hold a training camp before each tour, especially teams that play short test series' all the time.

Haha, is this a reference to his first iteration as a CW poster? Think I remember having some pretty serious arguments and then a multi called 'bent arm bowls' or something similar was made after he copped a ban

IIRC Pathan was nightwatchman once at Perth and did well, so they yolo'd and opened with him in Adelaide in order to play 5 bowlers

Not so sure about this; IMHO, overall, they are about evenly matched.
i enjoy the odd recreational class A drug as well, and for steve especially i understand living in australia pushes you towards such things, but it isn't doing much good for your internet posting (something we can all agree is the most widely played and valued sport in the disgusting modern era) and james is very anti-drugs on the forum so i think we should all respect his wishes and abstain from posting under the influence outside of match threads.

TIL I learned that a bowler averaging 24 can't possibly be as good as one averaging 28 despite arguably playing in much tougher conditions.
