14th June - 1st Semi-final - England v Pakistan

Congratulations Pakistan, well deserved. Bowled magnificently and had always won game from there. We played poorly, but don't think can take anything away from Pakistan here.

Well played Pakistan.......they've surprised a lot of people in this tournament.

Incredibly disappointing performance and loss for England though. I only only watched up to Butlers wicket so didn't see any of our dire bowling, but this was all too easy for Pakistan.

"England's year" at ICC tournaments is cricket's "Liverpool's year".

How bad is Morgan bitching about the pitch and complaining because it was a used surface which his team couldn't adjust to? What a crock.

He was moaning about the wicket in the defeat in the three South African one-dayers also.

Pakistan has done both Bangladesh & India a nice favor by eliminating England because both Bangladesh & India would have struggled to beat England in the final on the 'flatter' surface at the Oval.

Virat Kohli: "Everyone wants a England-India final". Just shows which team Kohli would rather face in the finals.
You have grabbed the comment out of context.

He was speaking at an Indo-England gathering where Indian Brits wanted Ind Eng final, so he simply echoed their sentiment, but he added that he personally doesn't have a preference for the final's opponent and that he'd be happy to make the final first.

It was a tongue in cheek comment

Saw the highlights, Pakistan's bowlers really impressive with a little swing and spin to be had.

Also, gutsy picking a debutant for a knockout match, but sometimes boldness pays off. I can't help but compare to NZ's timid selection approach.

Hope the wicket for the final isn't tooo flat as Pakistan would be less effective there.

Morgan’s comments suggest they were mentally expecting this semi to be a walk in the park and were already looking ahead to a likely final versus India.

England were so hyped up for this competition that they saw it as a walk in the park and a dress rehearsal for winning the world cup. I'm English yet I freely admit I've never seen an England sporting team so heavily hyped outside one of our (wc/euro) footballing flops over the last few decades (take your pick!). The way the television former-cricket pundits were acting was completely absurd. It would be different if this was a best-of 'series' but this is knock-out cricket where you have to seize all chances and opportunities - even the group stages seemed like knock-outs.

Watching the replay at the moment. Fakhar has a few technical issues (particularly against the short ball), but jeez he's got some shots. One silver lining after Sharjeel's disappointing fall from grace.
