West Indies vs Pakistan in UAE 2016

Where's the logic behind announcing the squad for the next series in a middle of a Test? Don't think it would have done wonders for Zulfiqar's morale

If they can eke out a 50-60 run lead, that might turn out to be handy.

And the lead is theirs.

West Indies have objectively not been awful this series. Kinda sounds patronising...but that's the level they're at unfortunately.

We are talking about 2nd vs 8th here, with 2nd playing at home. Other such series throughout Test history have been much more one-sided, I'm sure.

They've definitely been decent. Pitches being slow and making it difficult to prise out wickets in quick succession help them compete for longer in matches. Hope Bishoo and Gabriel can perform consistently in the future.

Remember how bad they were in that Sachin farewell series.. don't think I've ever seen a team play that poorly. Even if you have a dispute with your board, you'd think pride would kick in at some point.

The only passage of play in that whole Sachin series where they genuinely seemed to give a **** was when Tino Best cranked it up when bowling to Sachin in his last game. The rest of the series might be one of the most forgettable ones ever.

Deonarine getting Tendulkar out was pretty sweet.

The test team has had a pretty good tour. Yes the pitches have been slow but Pakistan have absolutely destroyed teams on similar surfaces.

The main disappointment is that until this test they left all their good performances to the second innings when the match was pretty much gone. It will be interesting to see what they do with the good position they have now got themselves into.

Thry do have some things to sort if they really want to develop the test side.

1) Kraigg`s opening partner. Johnson and Shai Hope are middle order batsmen. They need to either beg Gayle to come back or choose the best performing opener in the upcoming 4 dayers.

2) It's time to drop Samuels unless he improves drastically in the 2nd innings. Vishal Singh and Shai Hope are both scoring mountains of runs and deserve a chance. His approach has been reckless.

3) Jason Holder`s captaincy is poor. His use of Bishoo is bizarre and he either needs to step up and score some runs or take a few more wickets. I would prefer Kraigg as captain which would give us the option of bolstering the bowling attack if we need to as Jason could be dropped. He's a useful cricketer but not a certain selection.

Beamer, is Ronsford Beaton in the mix for Windies selection ?
He looked very impressive at the u-19 wc in 2012.

Gabriel and Joseph is quite a decent new ball pairing. They need a good backup as 3rd seamer however.

Good to see Brathwaite tonning up after a bit of a dry spell.
Yeah guy is class. Was hoping he'd make his way into that big four group, and with Darren Bravo provide some decent reliability to the WIndies top order but they've both had a bit of a poor spell recently.

Like the cut of Brathwaite's jib, wouldn't mind him at all playing til he's 36 or so around 2028!

Assuming the West Indies still exist by then.

A lead of 56 isn't enough to take the game into balance. Pakistan still has the upper hand imo, but a few wickets before tea can change things.
