The normal awards that everyone else has
We learnt in the batting position draft that Gregory's most commonly batted position in tests was actually number 9 lol
True that! Cant imagine there would be many guys who have batted in as many positions as Gregory did. Batted in every position apart from 10 and 11. Averaged over 100 at #4 and nearly 70 at #5.

Have got a DVD somewhere where Bradman talks about how in a services game he opened the batting and the bowling, scoring 100 in each innings and taking 6 wickets for the match. Evidently, he was also peerless as a slip fieldsman.

He was a generous and likeable Australian. He gave himself to cricket with enthusiasm and relish. He enjoyed himself and was the cause of enjoyment in others. At Johannesburg in 1921 Gregory scored a century in seventy minutes v South Africa - the fastest hundred in the history of Test cricket. He was a slip fielder of quite unfair reach and alacrity, a Wally Hammond in enlargement, so to say, though not as graceful, effortless, and terpsichorean. Gregory was young manhood in excelsis. All who ever saw him and met him will remember and cherish him. - cricinfo

so many good, cheap ATG wicketkeeping choices still available, but I feel my tail is gonna be very long so I may as well make him someone who could do more than simply hold a bat and justify a top 6 spot

Jock Cameron - 90

At the very least he sits with Gavaskar and Tendulakar in the top three of India's greatest batsmen (I'd probably add Dravid and Hazare into that mix as well).

Being a jerk aside, he was a remarkable batsmen, and I would be interested to know what India's FC standards was like through Merchant's career. His FC career is phenomenal, and he demonstrated an ability at test level to deal with (as an opener) bowlers of the calibre of Bedser, Voce and Allen.
