So someone does this every few years, right?

But it's only when quality players have their very best runs in cricket.

I'm still flapping around to try and put this Voges thing into perspective but maybe that's close

I think his 6 not outs in his first 19 innings is what is misleading this (does not appear normal). I consider 'fastest to 1000 runs' a more meaningful rating whereby he achieved it in 18 innings, the same as Mark Taylor, Doug Walters, Arthur Morris and Jimmy Adams.

If you get the same number of runs but get out less is that not better?

Genuine question. I didn't think his getting out at the end of his 220 the other day mattered at all, but thought that finishing not out in his fifty at Trent Bridge was impressive.

not misleading at all. If you get more not outs you're better because the bowlers don't get you out . . . obviously.

Yeah anything to avoid having to accept that he's actually good

I know that Vengasarkar had about 10 matches in 86 where he averaged 100+ and managed to score more than a 1000 runs

Don't know, just when you have a square argument to make with a round post, don't try me
no idea what you're talking about. Wasn't trying to make an "argument" of anything either btw.

Has anyone here ever said he is no good........why do you keep crapping on with this point??

Seriously, you are such a dire poster.
Dozens of people. There are even entire threads about it. The Aus/NZ tour thread is full of people saying it. Don't post about something you have no idea about, which seems to be pretty much everything I've ever seen you post about.

Literally never seen you make a decent post that was constructive to anything. You're a disgrace.

Let's hope he doesn't go the Jimmy Adams route and have that giant average literally halved in 2-3 years

If he played another 19 innings he'd have to average around 33 to get it there which would be kind of a poo run
Averaging 33 is pretty par for the course under tougher circumstances than he's had this summer, and the schedule is about to get tougher - away to SL and India and home to SA. Average of Australian batsmen under those circumstances this decade is 30.1. If you take out Clarke, that drops to 27.17.

I trust you have filtered that to top 7 batsmen only? Because it seems really low.

didn't someone say he could get like 8 ducks in a row and still average 50? That seems ridiculous

Yeah surely specialist Australian batsmen other than Clarke average more than 27 in those conditions? I mean I know Australia has performed pretty poorly in India, but not that badly in the other two places.

Top 7 positions in India and Sri Lanka average 34.61 for Australia since 01 Jan 2010.
Against SA at home the top 7 average 43.15
